Hi

Wondered if someone can help me

Been looking on line again (know I shouldn't).

I was looking up symptoms of cirrhosis rash and picked on a link that said Cirrhosis skin rash by mistake, and it gave all symptoms of psoriasis rash. If I click on the link for cirrhosis rash (without the skin ) it gives completely different symptoms which make more sense.

Think it is giving wrong information, and getting the words mixed up somehow.

It is also saying you can get cirrhosis of the skin ( again listing all the psoriasis symptoms) but I have never heard of this. Surely you can only get cirrhosis of the liver.

Does anyone know if cirrhosis can cause psoriasis.

I am asking because I have mild psoriasis, so have some of these symptoms, which have intensified due to stress, but have no symptoms at all listed under the cirrhosis rash heading.

Hope this makes sense

Thank you

I can see the confusion, looking up skin cirrhosis it would appear that this is another name that the skin condition psoriasis can be known as and it is not related to the liver at all.

This skin cirrhosis thing (fattyliverdisease.com/skin-... )

Normal psoriasis ( nhs.uk/conditions/Psoriasis/ )

Totally separately and not psoriasis you have things like cirrhosis skin rashes . These are skin changes and itching that can be a side effect of having issues with too high bilirubin etc.

It's always best to run these queries by your own doctor rather than doing the Dr Google thing because you'll convince yourself of all sorts of nonsense.

Hi Katie

Thank you so much for your reply.

Yep the google thing is not good. Just couldn't understand what it was saying.

Have you ever known psoriasis to be linked to cirrhosis.

I haven't but just wondered if anyone else had.

You are very kind

Thank you

Caroline

Hello Straightface,

Did you make an appointment to discuss your symptoms with your doctor as previously posted ?

May I suggest that you make an appointment to discuss any skin issues or other symptoms you may have. The only way to reach a diagnosis is by clinical examination and assessment.

Google can be a minefield, particularly if you suffer with health anxiety. It is always wise to stick with trusted sites , like British Liver Trust ( obviously - haha) and NHS .

Take care of yourself,

hi trust 19

Thank you for your reply.

I haven't been to doctor yet, still frightened. Know I should go to put my mind at rest.

I think I may have psoriasis, not sure as I have only just started symptoms since I started with all the health anxieties and I thought it started at a young age.

I just wondered if psoriasis was linked to cirrhosis. I didn't think so . Have you any knowledge of it being a symptom

I will like you say stick to the correct sites

Kind Regards

Caroline

Hi when I was in hospital my Psoriasis really flared up I was very poorly at the time and I remember there was some concern about it and my liver. I didn't know what but I now keep a watch on my skin and use a steroid cream.

Hi Belleben

Thank you for your reply.

Not sure if I have psoriasis. Can it come on very late in life do you know. I have never had any symptoms all my life.

I have been suffering badly from stress .About two months ago I had three red patches on my arm which came on after I had scratched a little white mark off. They lasted about a week and then went.

Does this sound as if it could be psoriasis to you. I hope you don't mind me asking.

Many thanks

I will go and get it checked out. I think I am too old for it just to start now but you never know.

At least I have an excuse to sit in the sun

I appreciate your help in this

You take care too

Many thanks

Cirrhosis doesn't cause psoriasis but take a look at the list of things that do and you probably tick one or two boxes there. You need to see a doctor, as I said to you on a previous thread, stress can lead you to developing physical symptoms and until you get checked out you are only going to the list of things that you 'might ' but not necessarily have.

Causes

of Psoriasis

It is believed to result from abnormal immune system. The risk factors or triggers of psoriasis are:

Family history

Bacterial, viral, or fungal infections

Injury to the skin such as a cut or severe burn

Stress

Obesity

Smoking

Alcohol abuse

Vitamin deficiency

Medications such as beta blockers, antimalarials, and lithium

Cold weather

Hi Katie

Thank you for your reply.

I see that stress is on the list and I'm sure as you say that this is mainly what is wrong with me.

I know I should see a doctor but feel so scared at the moment. I feel in such a bad place at the moment.

Thank you for all your help, you have gone to a lot of trouble for me and I appreciate it.

Kind regards

Caroline

Meant to add. I'm not sure that it is psoriasis that I have. I have never had any symptoms all my life and have just started to get some red/purple blotches on my arms which I'm assuming is psoriasis.

It could also be linked to stress as I didn't think psoriasis can suddenly develop late in life.

one of my sons developed it in his twenties. I only just found out he had at 35 yrs old! My daughter developed it at ten after a virus/bacetrail infection (throat, tonsillitis like ) and severely high temperatures 104F even when I was putting her in baths and cooling water down and giving panadl and aspirin alternatively... skin broke ou all over after a few days, that was the start. It's one thing I do not have as yet
