Me again, still no answers

Hi everyone,

Just checking in with what's going on and after some advice as to where to go next.

I have gone through periods of up to two weeks of feeling fine, no symptoms whatsoever, however the last few weeks especially they have returned.

I'm getting RUQ pain, bottom of right foot pain, itchy skin, shoulder pain when exercising, constant loose stools and generally feeling tired and a bit "euurgh".

I am lucky to have private health care so I have had both ultrasound and fibroscan on my liver which came back normal. My liver bloods were elevated but since stopping drinking since January (when this started) they have come down and stabilised at 'mildly elevated'.

The docs keep telling me theres nothing wrong with me but while I keep having these symptoms I cant believe that, and it's so hard to talk to my friends and family about it when they tell me the doctors have said I'm fine so I must be.

I'd love some advice on where to go next and what further tests would be good to push for next.

Thanks in advance

Hi

I'm so sorry you are going through so much. I think you should ask for a biopsy next.

6 years ago a consultant told me my ruq pain was muscular!! 4 years ago I finally got told I had a fatty liver caused by meds from my drs over the years, in the November I had a biopsy which showed I had Nash. Then last October my consultant referred me for a fibroscan (I think he did this to shut me up) I had my fibroscan in January/February and was told I had compensated cirrhosis. My consultant said I have so much pain because my liver is very fatty and enlarged stretching the capsule around it which causes the pain.

Take care and stay safe Lynne

I had RUQ pain for years. Stopped when the drinking stopped and haven’t had it since but my ALT is still elevated. Best thing to do is eat clean and cut out any greasy food. Drink lots of water.

Regardless if I had a Clear Fibro scan and clear ultrasound I’d be skipping down the street. By the way I have bad pain under left foot... chiropractor said it was Plantar fasciitis... had it for about 11 months. He said people get it that wear flip flops a lot... I laughed...that’s all I wear unless out in rain or snow!!

Hi,

Have you seen a hepatologist ( liver specialist)? They would be best placed to review your tests and discuss your symptoms.

Best wishes.

I was referred to a hepotologist, and that's who carried out my fibroscan and my follow up. I feel they fobbed me off a little as I'm pretty young and I felt as though they weren't taking me all that serious. They also bought anxiety into it as we have not long had our first baby, and said its common for first this to happen soon after children, which may be fair enough, but the fact its carried on 6 months after I'm hoping I will be listened to soon. I have a telephone appointment with my GP next week so hopefully they may suggest further tests.

We would suggest that it is very important you consider re- discussing your concerns with your hepatologist.
