Fibroscan normal, symptoms persisting...

Hi everyone,

Havent posted for a while but just wanted to update and maybe get some advice as to where to go next.

To recap, I'm a 29 y/o male who used to binge heavily of weekends,

Since feeling unwell from about February (RUQ, tiredness, nausea, head fog etc) I have had numerous bloods, an US and also a fibroscan. My bloods have fluctuated between normal and mildly elevated (ALT 79, GGT 116), US showed nothing abnormal and my recent fibroscan was 5.8.

I the doctors I've seen are trying to convince me I have nothing wrong with my liver which I would love to believe and get myself feeling normal, however I'm sure there is something going on.

I get frequent RUQ pains, pain in my right foot, prickly skin, feel nauseous, and my stool is almost always loose. I have had periods where I've felt fine but it seems to keep coming back.

I havent touched a drop of alcohol since end of February, but I'm still feeling the same. My weight and diet is good and I'm fit, I work shift work and often am sleep deprived when working nights.

Can anyone suggest where i go from here?

Thanks in advance

In my recent experience usually if you have liver problems it causes back pressure to your spleen the spleen would then usually (has mine has done will )enlarge

I'm now waiting for a fibroscan

The fact you've had a fibroscan and things are showing normal is reassuring

Although I've read a liver biopsy is more accurate

I'd listen to the specialist though they would probably have sent you for a biopsy if he thought it was necessary

Nausea and bowel problems can have many causes ibs, ibd, crohn's etc... gallbladder or anxiety

Do cut down the drinking though

You dont want to be in the same place I'm at not worth it

Your tests are reassuring and the doctors will be limited with what else they can do. Could you perhaps ask for an appointment where you can reiterate your concerns and discuss your symptoms with them? Maybe a referral to a gastroenterologist to look at your bowel symptoms in more detail?

Keep us posted.
