Very difficult now

Things are impossible now.

Fam member had kidneys failing for a week or two as a result of the liver cancer.

But the cancer remained stable for years but then suddenly kidnets started failing.

Kidneys not working has resulted in body filling up with fluid everywhere so he cannot move but mind still working.

Pain relief to relax and remove pain but that relaxed he cannot take food or drink yet he had not lost his appetite at all and has made it clear he is desperately thirsty.

Hi eekk. Is he allowed to drink? the kidney problems will make him thirsty.

I really feel for you going through this.

I have been in similar circumstances three times with my parents and my mother-in law and know how helpless you must be feeling, but just being there for your loved one will be a great comfort to them.

Thinking of you.

Alf

It's hard to know how to respond in words. At least there's pain relief to ease your family member's suffering. Look after yourself as well as being there for your family member. God bless.

If you cut a small square of foam and stick a cocktail stick into it, you can soak it in water and wipe it over his lips. I did that for my hubby while he was in ICU. He used to manage a little smile when l did that. 💕

Oh eekk,

I am so sorry to hear of the ongoing issues of your family member. The good that they have pain relief and calming meds, but with kidney problems, thirst is always a problem. At least they still have a good appetite, which is something to be grateful for. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Take Care,

David
