This is really for those who are on the liver transplant waiting list, and who are awaiting that elusive phone call.
I have heard that for the time being, all liver transplants are on hold, until this present epidemic has calmed down. Those patients are advised to stay on contact with the transplant coordinators, so they can remain healthy and fit for when this present crisis is over and normal services are resumed. Don't just sit back and wait for the phone to ring, make contact with the coordinators.
I have also heard that the liver ward 727 is almost empty at the QE, so admissions are going to be rare.
That.most be awful for anybody on the list lets hope and pray this virus is over quickly .
Hi Richard
This is my first post on here but I thought I’d say hello as I’m under the QE for liver transplant too. I was due to be listed in February 2019 but found to have a brain aneurysm that needed treatment first. I’m not active on the list yet so I’m not at the point of waiting for the phone to ring and I now think it’ll be sometime before I am.
I’m lucky, I’m not urgent and so providing my underlying infection behaves itself, I will be fine, I really feel for those who are very urgently in need of transplant and hope that some kind of normality is back soon to save these lives too. I think the impact of Covid-19 on people with underlying and acute serious illness isn’t fully understood or appreciated by some in good health unfortunately. Actually I took my good health for granted too even after my diagnosis of PKD 12 years ago. Maybe that’s just the way it has to be to not worry too much in life.
I hope you are managing the anxiety ok and have good support around you.
Bestest wishes
Karen
Hi Richard,
please can I ask where you got this information from? Just that I’m on the list and only spoke to a coordinator the other day.
Had no letter or telephone call to state that they are suspended and now am worried.
