Have been told now that transplant recipients are in the "vulnerable bracket". My partner has an appointment tomorrow at Leeds for a bile duct stent Repair or Removal.. Tried to contact Leeds today but no one with the right experience to give advice was there on a Sunday. Ring 111 was the advice I was given. 29mins and a queue of over 50 calls later( understandable in the circumstances) I was still no wiser. The operator however was very surprised that the appointment hasn't been cancelled. My problem is that the clinic doesn't open until 8.30am & his appointment is 8.40am. It takes over an hour to get there. Any advice truly appreciated guys.xx

Confused yet again!
Hi h0b0,
I know that the NHS were cancelling all non urgent operations.
It could be that they consider your partners operation to be urgent.
Do you think that this is maybe so?
I know of someone on here who was due to have an operation very recently on a Monday and he received a phone call on the afternoon of the day before (Sunday) to cancel.
I can't think of anyone else that you could contact in these circumstances, all that I can suggest is that you ring the hospital liver ward really early tomorrow and maybe they can find out for you if it is going ahead.
All the best with it.
Alf
Thanks Alf. This procedure was supposed to happen in February. We are now 22 days late so not sure about the urgency. The problem is that if you follow my posts the original procedure last October resulted in severe pancreatitis. I hope you can understand my worries. x
Yes, it must be extremely worrying not knowing what's happening over an operation that is clearly needed.
I expect things are really chaotic in hospital admin at the moment and that's probably why this situation has come about.
Hope you can manage to reach someone really early tomorrow that can help you with this.
Alf
Calling the liver ward was a good suggestion Alf!
🙂
You must go. I have a blocked bile duct. My appointment went ahead at King's last week. The clinic was busy. I have another follow up in a few weeks. No sign of them delaying my treatment, it's life threatening.
If in doubt attend.
Hi,
Due to the very special circumstances in which we all find ourselves, I'm sure you would be fine calling the hospital and asking to speak the duty transplant coordinator / doctor on your transplant team.
Keep well,
Jim
