Hi Priddy,

I have F4 cirrhosis, along with many of the associated symptoms, but despite these, my consultant has reduced my appointments, bloods, US scan etc from 6 monthly to yearly. The NICE guidelines for consultant appointments is, I believe, 6 monthly, so I will be raising this at my next appointment in early April.

Thanks for that. Our GP hub is in crisis with our surgery now opening only 2 days a week so can’t even talk to a GP on the phone. Feels isolating.

Hi Muriel,

I feel so sorry for you having to deal with this.

That is unacceptable and should not be allowed to happen. Is it a staffing problem? I think you should contact PALS, the practice manager, or possibly change GP Hub if that is possible.

That's just terrible. How do you cope? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Sadly it's very much a postcode lottery as different areas have different types of consultants.

Where I happen to live, we only have Gastroenterologist, other areas like London and Birmingham have more Hepatologists.

If you happen to live in a deprived area, liver disease maybe higher and thus cause a greater demand on hospitals and consultants. So, it's very much a case of, "horses for courses" I'm afraid.
