Fibro scan showed 12.7 n a severe fatty liver. Both alt n ast where elevated at the times of scan does this mean cirrhosis. Latest scan was 11.5..so come down. None of this makes sence to me. Its getting me down

Cirrhosis or not?
Do a search for Fibroscan score chart online it will come up with an image showing different underlying illnesses and where each scores as regards kPa scores.
In NAFLD- a score of 11.5 kPa would put you on the joining line between F3 & F4 (cirrhosis).
If your liver inflammation levels were also elevated at the time it might not in reality be as high as that.
It sounds like you are at a stage where significant lifestyle change could reverse the issue so you have to concentrate on that and on living life rather than what the 'scores on the doors' are. Sometimes I think it is beneficial not to know the scores as people get bogged down by those rather than living life and doing all they can to maximize their own quality of life.

Hi Katie thank you I've got fatty liver and I drank alcohol, but not to what ppl may think . Not everyday. A few times a week so I'm not sure if I've got ALD OR Nafld or both. That's what confuses me do I have cirrhosis or not. Doc said fibrosis can be revered but cirrhosis can't. Can u understand my confusion.
If it was alcohol related you'd be F3, NAFLD F3/F4. Fatty liver is fatty liver, regardless of cause and the same treatment will help both.
You'll be able to turn this round.
I would stop fretting the numbers, completely knock the booze on the head, eat well, get exercising and you should get both the fibrosis level and fat level back down again.
Even early cirrhosis can be reversed.
This is a quote from the British Liver Trust page on cirrhosis "Until recently, it was thought that a liver with cirrhosis could not be healed. This is usually the case because most diseases that cause scarring of your liver (fibrosis) are long-term and difficult to ‘cure’.However, recent research has shown that it may be possible to heal scarring and even cirrhosis where the liver disease causing this damage is able to be successfully treated."

Really, stop fretting the figures and start living life. Like I say some folks (my hubby for one) never get told any figures and we just get on with life.
Katie
Yeah thank you. I'm still getting symptoms. Even after a year. But in December I felt great then foolishly newyears eve I had a pack of fags. Not realising I could harm myself more. I just thought it was alcohol. Slowly the symptoms came back. Just starting to bate now. I'm hoping I get bk to how I felt in December.. It's a nightmare I know that much
Which specific diet would help i reversing fibrosis?
You'd be best to seek the advice of a dietician for that. The British Liver Trust page has a whole section dedicated to diet and liver disease.

The section related to NAFLD says:-
"Non-alcohol related fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Non alcohol related liver disease is a term for a wide range of conditions in which there is a build-up of fat in the liver cells of people who do not drink alcohol excessively. Initially the fat deposits may not be associated with any symptoms, however, in some people this may progress to inflammation – non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) which may in turn lead to scarring and cirrhosis.
You are more likely to develop a fatty liver if you:
are overweight or obese, particularly if you put on weight around your middle (apple shaped)
- have high blood cholesterol
- have diabetes
- have been diagnosed with insulin resistance (where your body does not respond to insulin as it should)7.
If you have a fatty liver you may be advised to make changes to your diet and life-style including:
- cutting out or down on alcohol (remember, alcoholic drinks are often high in calories
- taking regular exercise, such as walking or swimming
- eating plenty of fruit and vegetables
- eating slow-release starchy foods, such as bread and potatoes
- avoiding refined sugars and saturated fats – as in chocolate, cakes and biscuits.
- if necessary, slowly reducing your weight to a healthy level for your build and age, and keeping it there.
If you are diabetic, then it is important to work with your doctor to keep your blood sugar levels under good control. If your blood cholesterol is high or you are insulin resistant, you may be prescribed medication as well given dietary advice."
I am not qualified to give dietary advice so can't recommend anything other than to follow the type of plan above or see a dietician for individualized support.
