Cirrhosis fibro scan: I had a scan in... - British Liver Trust
Cirrhosis fibro scan
My hubbies consultant has said once a patient has known cirrhosis there is little point doing fibroscan and certainly not repeatedly since cirrhosis isn't going to go away - if you have a definite diagnosisof cirrhosis then fibroscan adds nothing to the diagnosis. Whilst your condition may stabilize or remain good the cirrhosis (once established) isn't going anywhere so you may never see your kPa figure going below that bar for F4/cirrhosis.

Dear Tim12,
If you [are in the UK and] would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
Best wishes

I quickly learnt that a reduction in fibroscan scores means nothing!
My Dr's said there's no point in chasing numbers because once you have cirrhosis the only indications of it improving or worsening are the symptoms.
Cirrhosis is about the condition of the liver, it's not a disease or illness in its own right if your liver keeps doing its job,
Much like an old car, treat it gentle and it keeps going.
Hello Tim as Katie and Roy said the fibroscan is not an indicator of how well your liver is doing after the initial reading. They use the Meld score in the states to monitor liver function. I believe they use child Pugh in the UK but not entirely sure. I’m sure someone in the UK will correct me if that’s inaccurate.
I love Roy’s analogy of the car. Once you have it you have it. However I’m still hoping I’m the 1% that will revert back to f3. Make sure you take care of your liver and get rid of whatever caused it. Whether it was alcohol, hep c, or something else.
I need a tune up. 😁🤣
