Going back to work letting hubby fend for himself

Scary times!! Hubby is the one with liver disease but had such a profound effect on us that I have been off work from teaching since beginning of nov. Going back in tomorrow for two mornings and as support not to my own class. Then half term so I can decide how I feel. Pretty nervous now!

Hoping it's the right thing to do. Getting up early was tricky!! Especially as hubby's sleep all over the place

Hi

That’s good for you I hope, positive, 👍 and 🤞.

I really didn’t want my wife (also a teacher) to stay around at home with me when I was ill since to me there was no point in her suffering my misery as well - hasten to add this is just my view. So she went back to work all the time, even when I was in Hospital with HE - but yes, of course she visited me at least once a day 😀👍. It worked well for us and otherwise she would have been off work for over 5 years 👎.

I sincerely hope it works for the both of you too.

Good luck back at teaching - how anyone can be a teacher in this day and age is beyond me - kudos to you!

Thanks miles. Hoping it works for us. I'm part time at the moment as changed job school year group in sept. Head been great and going in for just two mornings this week to support another class. Can't deal with the responsibility of my own class yet. Not sure I can in top of all going in at home but we'll see. Glad to hear from someone whose wife is a teacher and managed it !

Hi Karen

It’s so nice to hear when someone’s “boss” is so understanding - and hence presumably, caring. Can’t say I had that so I just resigned - silly silly me. 😀.

I’m sure - well, I hope - you and your husband, will be fine. We like good news stories on here - bet you never knew that! He he 😀

Hi

My wife (Head Teacher)worked for the first few years I was ill. Until she retired

It was good for both of us, I could relax and sleep and she could keep her life going

Doing as many normal things is good, best wished and I hope it goes well

Thank you. I made it out if bed to school into school and lasted all morning. It was okay. But reminding myself to take it slow which is easier said than done! Really appreciate the support

I knew there was a reason the sun shone yesterday, albeit briefly. But a welcome relief to the torrential rain and battering winds of late. It was you being strong enough to share your care and attention of others and head back to work. Well done! Super proud of you!🌈
