Looking Yellow

Hi everyone,

May I trouble you again I have noticed this last week or so my husband goes a bit yellow then seems to return to a more or less normal colour. Any ideas why this is happening or is it all part of this delightful disease?

I also thought his ascites had returned as he was looking bloated but his scan before Christmas said no ascites and when the doc checked him last week she said it was bloating but it seems a bit excessively for bloating and she wasn’t interested in why.

Hi,

Have the doctors checked your husband's bilirubin levels on a blood test? Raised bilirubin can be a good indicator of jaundice. It would also be a good idea to get the doctor to physically examine him, they are professionally able to assess for clinical signs of jaundice.

Best wishes

Well she saw him last week and didn’t comment and we have an appointment next week do you think I should ask for an emergency appointment? The yellowness co es and goes?

nhs.uk/conditions/jaundice/ Here is the NHS information on Jaundice that does say it should be medically assessed ASAP

Best wishes

Hi I sometimes look rather yellow at times and then it seems to disappear..I have cirrhosis and occasionally my bilirubin goes up and then goes back to normal..I think with cirrhosis it's just part of what can happen occasionally!

As long as all the other LFTs are normal and there is no sign of accites I wouldn't worry so much about it.
