My bloods are looking good (ish) and my GP is happy. But this is totally irrelevant. My darling son has a spinal injury. I am in bits. Worst case scenario is neck down paralysis. Wine is calling but I know I can’t. Just not coping.

Oh dear Cobwebs 😕 Truly hope it’s not as bad as your worst case...
Good luck to you both.

🤞 It isn't. A Spinal Team can work wonders. I learnt that from my partner who nursed at our local Unit prior to retirement & from visiting friends. 🙏
I am so sorry to read your post. What a dreadful situation your son and you as his parent find yourself in.
All l can say is you have done so well to rid yourself of the drink so please please don't let this be a reason to slip back into old habits. You know its not the answer. Whatever the outcome of your son's condition, he is going to need you now more than ever so you have to be strong and completely clear headed to cope with whatever lies ahead. I certainly hope beyond words that you are not facing worst case scenario and l know the medical team will do everything in their power to do the very best for your son. My heart goes out to you both.
Please keep in touch and remember to get all the support you need
Much love

Oh my love, your heart must be breaking. Please know that we are all praying to our own gods for you and your family.
Stay strong honey.
Much love. 🤗🤗
Oh, my poor Cobweb, I am very sorry to hear that your Son has a spinal injury.
You are both in my thoughts and prayers🙏🙏🙏
I worked at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in and around the spinal unit there, as an assessor (non medical), and as Ofeckman says, their understanding of spinal injury has come on in leaps and bounds, so please don't think the worst case scenario, they can work miracles now.
Thinking of you at this difficult time,
Take Care,
David
I know but I am a mum in the extreme! He doesn’t even know how the injury was caused. Could have been years ago but no symptoms till about six weeks ago. Currently diagnosed as cervical myelopathy. Everything crossed and prayers to whichever god is the spinal geezer. Deb xx
I am getting more support and uplifting vibes on here than from my entire family. So a heartfelt thank you. Deb xx
Praying for God's healing for your dear son. I'm so sorry to hear this. When it comes to our kids, our problems seem minute in comparrison. Lifting you both up in prayer.
The symptoms were tingling feet, hands and left arm. Also, clumsy and stumbling. So the initial diagnosis was thought to be linked to Type 1 diabetes which was diagnosed on 16th July 1995. Next option was Multiple Sclerosis- his thoughts and the consultants fear. After an MRI it became clear that it is almost definitely Cervical Myelopathy. No idea when it happened but he has only had symptoms for six weeks.
Now aged 27, he is unable to work. No alcohol in case he falls. He can’t give up smoking because coughing could be dangerous. He would hate a fuss so I have to keep it low key with other people. However they cannot hug him in case it shifts the discs crushing the spinal cord so Christmas Day will be challenging. I mean, family are asked not to use their mobile phones when they are our guests but that is ignored. Obviously, Richard can keep his on in case the hospital calls. The consultant has been phoning him twice a day.
He is so beautiful. He had an active job and played football. He seemed so fit and full of life.
My children are my life. That goes without saying. 😔😔😔😔
