Ercp & STENT

Not posted a question for a while but has anyone post transplant had to undergo the above procedure? My partner had this done today at Jimmy's & the whole experience is baffling. We had 2 lots of post regarding the op....1 slightly different to the other. Numerous conflicting phone calls regarding what meds to take or not to take prior to the procedure. Someone had to take him which I did but then was told that i wouldn't see him for about 6 hours. Our lift had already left so I had go home on the train. On picking him up we were told that as well as a bile duct stent he has had a pancreas stent because his pancreas was nicked during the procedure. He has to back in 2 weeks for the pancreas stent to be removed & then in 4 months the bile duct stent has to be replaced. Very,very confusing. Any help much appreciated. xx

Yes my hubby went through this.it took a year of replacing stents before all was ok

Yes that was between 1 and 2 years post tp

Now 8 years post

Had lots of tumours pre tp. No recurrence.

Sorry to trouble you,just wondering if you could help me with some information regarding ERCP and stents.I understand that your husband went through this post transplant.My husband is now third month post transplant,he has an ongoing bile leak for two months now and has a billiary drain.Had so far 4 ERCPs with stents,but this didn't resolve the problem,although the draining fluid is reduced.The doctors hope for it to be healed by its own within a couple of months,but we are sceptic about it.Did your husband have a similar problem? Would very much appreciate your reply and sorry again for bothering...

No bother at all. He is 3 years post TP & was unaware of any problems. The narrowing bile duct was only picked up with a routine scan. Unfortunately he developed pancreatitis the day after the procedure & spent 5 days in hospital in quite a lot of pain. Since then he has lost a considerable amount of weight so was given a full body CT scan yesterday. We just have to wait for the results. Hope your Hubby gets sorted. x

I know my hubby had a ERCP or something and a stent for bile duct or anastomosis bit 🤦‍♀️ But it went ok 👍 local hospital did it and I didn’t stay with him as it was treated like a ‘day case’ so that bit is quite normal - and sounds all ok 👍 with any procedure there is a risk and one of them will be ‘nicking a pancreas’ so they will just remove that and again I guess will be classed as a day procedure so you won’t be able to stay with him - it all sounds quite normal from what I remember (I was a hospital staff nurse for a while before hubby got poorly) - I understand it’s annoying that you can’t stay but they don’t have room for relatives etc and tbh ‘relatives/partners’ ask questions and it delays the whole process 🤦‍♀️ Hope he’s feeling a bit better and try not to worry 🥰

Oh bless him 🥰 and you - sounds like your doing a fab job ☺️ I don’t remember hubby having ‘pain’ after though ??? And he’s quite a baby 🤣 and likes to be ‘looked after’ - how long ago did he have it done ???

Yesterday morning.It was done under general anaesthetic & took 3 hours as it was done for training purposes via video. I'm used to looking after him since 2015 when he was diagnosed with cirrhosis & transplanted 2016. This is the first hiccup since. xx

Sounds like you know your stuff 🥰🥰🥰 That’s good that he’s had no probs since transplant 👍 hopefully this will have sorted it - I know that my hubby hasn’t had anything wrong with his since ☺️ Good luck to you both 🥰
