Hello again, just a little update and advice welcomed

Sorry to bother you all, I am truly in awe of your amazing strength and positivity when I read your posts.

I posted over the weekend and have been so touched by your kindness.

I felt a tad better and brighter yesterday although some episodes of discomfort. I episode of urgent diarrhoea which I have no idea from whence it came tho GP tagged me with IBS, but I dont know many people without that tag!

I did 6000 steps, so a tad more than my 2 miles. Have done those already today with more to come. But I have totally overheated on both occasions. It is a bit milder and today I was striding out with the dog but yesterday more of a normal pace. But I was totally overheated, my t shirt soggy with sweat, my forehead and back of neck dripping. And yet other people wrapped up in layers like it was knee deep in snow. I dont understand this.

Diet....I had started on LCHF way of eating which I know to be very good for eliminating visceral fat. I have also started to eat just twice a day within a 8hr window. Is this ok?

Belching has lessened today..yesterday I was like a 1 woman wind section of an orchestra. But still a very uncomfortable bloated feeling around bra strap. Have drunk pain water...I usually add Robinsons squash...and my usual buckets of tea. Day 22 today without alcohol.

Whilst I wait to see GP, is there anything else I can do please? Thank you for reading and I hope yu are all having a day that brings you comfort and smiles xx

Hiya I just had to read your first post and I just wanted to say brilliant news on giving up alcohol xx

The sweats are normal I had them for about 6-8 weeks and I had nightmares as well...

As far as your eating is concerned you need to eat small and regular meals your liver needs fuel to repair itself it's not good eating 8 hours apart..... Everything else sounds fine and you should be definitely making a difference in time x

Thank you so much. I have always been a grazer, but on the wrong things....biscuits, crisps etc, with alcohol resulting in me being at least 5 st overweight. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated x

You can still graze as I am one lol 😂

I graze on crackers with lightest philadelphia and bread sticks with hummus and carrots I make energy balls (gives me something to do as well) if you Google it you can find the recipe... Nuts are great as well and use a spray oil to cook with it's low in fat and much kinder I changed my diet a year ago because I went mental after transplant and put loads of weight on and six months after eating above I lost the weight I had put on... Hope you're not offended by the advice x

Gosh of course not. I am so worried and stressed about how I feel that I am looking for as much advice and guidance that I can find, and to learn how to move forward positively, whatever the outcome.

I thank you for taking the time to reply and give me guidance.

Best wishes, D xx

Hi there,

I had to look up meaning of LCHF (low carb healthy fat), but what is pain water? Is it squash and water?

We don't call it squash in America (to us that's a vegetable you call butternut or acorn zucchini, l think), but l think l can find British squash online. Any other ideas are welcome.

l am making a renewed commitment to my own fitness, I need to lose 7 stone, but will be more than satisfied with 5. Too much laying about due to low energy, lack of sleep, led to lack of exercise. You have both given me a new resolve to keep at it!

BTW, I trust Jojo because l know she always speaks the unvarnished truth. I hope she won't hold back when l need a kick in the ass! 😂

l have made little progress in the past. But l have been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and hopefully with CPAP therapy l will have more energy for exercising. I also plan to ask my liver doc about vitamins. And my gp is testing my thyroid, it's a little low.

So l will be here on this journey, hoping to hear more about it from you or anyone who cares to join us lol. I'm in, boots and all this time! xx

*plain water!

in reply to

Tap, Bottled Carbonated or Still. No matter what you ask for its still water.🤭

Oh 😯 I see that now, that makes sense lol. Since l had to look up squash, I clearly got carried away with figuring out what you were talking about lol.

Cant really comment on the sweats etc, but I too am in the process of attempting to lose some weight.

The key thing with anything like that is doing it in a way you can stick too long term. So whilst some of the more trendy things to do may work short term, over time they get really difficult to stick too and you just end up right back where you started.

As Jojo say says, eating little and often is better. Use up more calories than you take in, and doing the exercise you are doing will help that, and you should lose weight. My phone app tells me losing 1lb (0.5kg) per week is very manageable. I've set it so I lose about 0.75kg per week and so far I'm more or less hitting my calorie difference I need to achieve that. Not weighed myself yet so cant comment on the results so much, but, I am finding that's manageable for me without a great deal of difficulty or hardship. Although not getting that big bag of crisps or the bag of fruit gums everytime I go to the shop takes lots of will power to resist! Indeed, thats probably the hardest thing I've found so far.

Good luck with your efforts and keep up your good work so far.

Thank you. I too loved a bag of sweets, usually in the car but find cutting sugar much easier than cutting wheat....I love bread, cake, scones etc, can happily live without pasta /rice.

I am going to try to stick to this woe but split my meals and have a small nibble instead of sitting down to 2 meals.

Good luck. I have lost 7lbs but think a lot of that is the wine I am NOT drinking each night

Best wishes D x

22 days! That's fantastic! Well done you. Keep going :) x

Thank you. I am so far, touch wood, not missing it at all, and I would detour to go to the off licence! I was in Wales for a couple of days and drinking ice cold water straight from the spring and it was absolutely the best thing I have drank ever. Came home and water yak again!

Drinking and eating sweets is exactly how l put the weight on too. A friend told me to write everything down and that has helped. I've been too lazy to always look up the calories, but just by keeping track of what l eat, l make healthier choices. I do feel hungry sometimes, and my dietician said not to let that happen, so l know l need to add more fiber to fill up on. 7 pounds is a great start! 👍😁

thank you, great to have such a wonderfully supportive group, I feel that no matter what my outcome, I will get through it.

Hi,

Congratulations on doing so well with cutting out alcohol.

Your other posts mentions you have a fatty liver. Have you ever had fibrosis testing? You may want to discuss that with your GP, they could order a Fib-4 score blood test or a FibroScan.

Regarding diet, If you have a liver condition, there are some special considerations you may need to make in your diet to stay nutritionally well and to help to manage your condition. Some of these are specific to certain liver diseases, others relate to how advanced your liver disease is. We therefore always suggest that people should discuss their specific dietary needs with their own doctors in the first instance. They may then be able to refer you to a hospital registered dietitian for a specific plan.

If you are in the UK and would ever like a chat, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday 10am to 14.45 on 0800 652 7330

Best wishes

That’s a standing ovation; by the way. You are a true fighter and deserve all the help and encouragement from all of us. You do need to graze although in my case I’m more like the lion 🦁 trying really hard and failing miserably with the several small meals a day.

I just graze along after one meal. What does one do when one is awake all night 5 out of 7 nights. One has no option but to graze on the juicy bits hidden under my many pillows. 🙈

Kudos for giving up on alcohol. It’s not easy and I admire your tenacity. Please stop sending me the excess weight you lose. I’m sure there are many people who are more worthy of such a sacrificial gift 🎁

You’re doing a great job. I’m out of here as I’m beginning to feel left behind. 🏃🏼‍♀️ 🏃🏼‍♀️ 🏃🏼‍♀️

🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a great post! I used to keep sweets under my pillow until one night I must have fallen asleep midway through eating white chocolate buttons...I had spare ones line up on my chest....the mess was scary lol!

thank you for your kind words, I am only AIMING to get to 12k steps because for my height it is only just past 5 miles, so no real biggie. I was doing just around 6k a day when I joined this board, but I see exercise, exercise, exercise in most of the posts so decided to get on top of it. I am quite a "stiff" person (fibromyalgia) so not a gym bunny, would cause a tidal wave if I went swimming, so decided to just walk and walk more. I have a dodgy hip and that has limited due to pain, but I am grinning and bearing it....who knows, the weight loss may help the hip!

Thanks again x
