Hi, had my two day assessment Wednesday and thurs, decision day today.
I felt the first day went well with the one to ones I had saying they would give a positive feedback at there meeting today..yday I saw the transplant coordinator and she said the aneathetist may want to do heart tests as I'm type 2 diabetes. I've been diabetic all through my treatment so why bring me this far to be told I may get a no or maybe ?not expecting good news.

Hi Red 65. I had diabetes type 2 and had the heart stress test. I was too weak to go on the treadmill and so was given the test where they put adrenaline through a canula into my system to put my heart under stress. My blood pressure dropped through the floor and the test had to be abandoned. I was not asked to do any other kind of heart stress test. I was put on the transplant waiting list and after 10 weeks got my transplant, luckily first time, no messing! Am now one year post transplant. Hope my story helps to make you a little less worried. Wishing you all the very best and rooting for you. Alf
Hi Red65, good luck today hope you get the decision you want, there are quite a few people on here who have type 2 diabetes and have had transplants, 🌼🌸
Aw try think positive, I went for the assessment 3 times, 1st time they said I wasn’t sick enough, 2nd time I wasn’t ready, and 3rd time it was a go, I was on the list for 10 weeks and transplanted after the 1st call, I will be thinking of you today and keeping everything crossed for you xx
My story is almost ditto to alfredthegreat’s story. I couldn’t do the treadmill either and had the same IV as freddy. I completed the test luckily and passed. However this caused a 4 month delay in me getting on THE List. I had my TP one day after freddy but at the second attempt 👍👍 and at a different Hospital....
Oh yes and it was the Anaesthetist who put me forward for the test because of T2 Diabetes and High BP - both of which I had had for well over 20 years..
Good afternoon Red65, It can be a very anxious time waiting for the outcome of transplant assessment but I am sure all our lovely forum members will support you through it.
I have also included a link to liver transplant information, which also includes information on assessment and testing which may be useful
