Hi, I'm Jo. I was recently been diagnosed with F4 nonalcoholic cirrhosis. I have portal hypertension and varacies. So far I'm not any treatment. I will see a liver specialist next month to discuss treatment. For now, I am floundering as to what I should and shouldn't do. Any input would sure be nice.
Fyi: It's Jo (female) Thanks!

When you got diagnosed was the cause given? Like alcohol or non alcohol etc. You should have been told or at least given an indication.? If alcohol I’m sure your doctor or Consultant will have warned you about the dangers of alcohol. Whatever the reason diet and fitness is bound to be discussed on here to a far greater level than I could ever comment on. I’m sure/hope in the morning the knowledgeable ones will appear. 😁👍.
It is possible that you are compensated, the specialist confirms the diagnosis. The advice would be to try not to google but use the Liver Trust site or the NHS.
Hi Jo, my story is similar. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis a year ago when the surgeon removing my gallbladder noticed the macronodules on my liver. I had had no signs or symptoms of liver problems previously and, fortunately, none since. My cirrhosis is not alcohol based but I've been type 2 diabetes for 20 years. I'm 73. I had ultra sound, CAT and MRI scans after the diagnosis as well as loads of bloods, of course. I follow a low sugar and carb diet because of the diabetes and walk a lot anyway so have not changed my life much. Emotionally, I didn't have the depressed reaction that many seem to have had, luckily. Just puzzled as to the cause. I am surrounded in my family by serious drinkers so have decided that I've got cirrhosis by osmosis! I had no problems giving up even the occasional glass of red wine I'd previously enjoyed so, so far so good. This forum is wonderful. I've never encountered such a great bunch of empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental people with a great sense of humour. I'm sure that I will be posting much more in the future as symptoms start to rear their ugly heads but for now I get a daily boost by reading many posts. Linda
Thank you Linda. I am 72 and so far no diabetes. I think with me , the portal hypertension ith varaces is the scariest part. I agree, the people in this group are so supportive. I've only been in the group for a few days but so far, I find it to be helpful.
The best of wishes to you as you muddle through all of this. GOD IS IN CONTROL!
