Strange rash

Hi all, how you doing? I'm feeling OK today, much preferring daytimes, because at night when I'm trying to get done much needed sleep... That's when the intolerable itching and aching happens. Anyone else suffer it and what do you do? I've also noticed some rash like puncture marks almost like pock marks and underneath they really ache and it feels like the skin is tightening. Also I seen to have exercise induced red blotchy rash. Sigh, so I have a little respite some days. It's been there since around the same time the gp tested my autoimmune profile ad the results were positive for ASMA. In limbo at the moment till fibroscan results as to whether is is definitely AIH.

Well hope you're all not suffering and having good days.

Hi Janeytrace, so sorry to hear you are having a miserable time. I am of no help whatsoever, I know very little about anything. So for now I am sending you a virtual hug and reminding you that you are in the right place. Everyone here cares. Have a itch free evening. Jaycee

I don’t know much about AIH, but I do have a little itching sometimes at night if I get to warm , I have PBC which is another autoimmune condition.

I use a 2% menthol cream, you can get from the chemist , you have to ask for it it’s not one on the shop floor. The cooling relieves the itch long enough to get to sleep. Have a word with your doctors there are medications you could try if it’s keeping you awake.

Thanks will try that. Totally just reminded me I can go to the Chemist about it. GP have me amitryptiline to help me sleep as itching has been going on for ages, the rash is fairly new. My friend had PBC its similar to AIH, itching is a common complaint, sympathies 🌸 I will go to the chemist today.

Best wishes for your recovery x

Hi janey.. I was diagnosed with autoimmune condition/hepatitis 4 months ago. I’m on high dose steroids now to bring liver function back to normal, but yes I have awful red itchy rash as you described almost like pit marks and sore. Doctors only concerned with liver and not rash! I’m now using organic shea butter and it has helped enormously.

Wishing you well for your future 💖

Oh gosh someone else good to hear from you, but sorry about the condition. Interesting to know Dr's response hmm. I apse they just look at the intrinsic tannins the rash is there. I know my surgery has signs up saying they won't give prescriptions for certain things where you can buy the treatment yourself. I'm currently spending about £20 a month on medicines. 2x cetirizine allergy tablets helps a bit. It was the pit marks that alerted me, maybe this is an AIH sign then as you have been diagnosed. Do they come and go and pop up in random places? It's mostly the lower legs and ankles on me but a few days ago I noticed one on my thigh. Swelling sons ankle is worse and I have pitting edema when laying down. Great isn't it, lol. Could be worse I suppose.

All the best

I’m sorry to hear you have the itchy rash. Have you tried Shea butter? Also, speak to your GP who might be able to suggest something. I have the rash and it was itchy, but the itch seems to have gone.. for no particular reason.. my blood tests showed that several of the levels that were very high have come down and I don’t know why, just that they have and with it, the itching has decreased. Good luck with it. I know while it’s there it’s very difficult to get comfortable and I sympathise with you. Have as restful a time as you can. Padders

Hey Padders great news on the improvement for you. Yes I've tried shea butter it cools down for 5 mins on me, but comes back again. Will keep trying other recommendations too, somethings going to work I'm sure. Going to the chemist today to show the pharmacist, we have a good one just down the road.

Best wishes for continued improvement hope that itch stays away for you.

I used to get a blistery rash on my flank, it would come and go, that started when I was pregnant, 2% percent hydrocortisone cream helped me enough to be able to sleep. It was years later (sixteen years!) that I found out l had cirrhosis. The worst itch when I was nine months pregnant, that crawling sensation, it was awful!! I thought I was going mad, also had it with my daughter 12 years before. I had nothing else to compare it to, and no idea that it wasn't normal lol. Then I started getting it again, but by then I knew the rash was aggravated by stress, and a cool shower with powder afterwards helped. Hope you get some relief soon, it is my understanding it is from high bloods.

Aww I know what you mean about the pregnancy itch, had that too. I have an eczema type rash spreading across my chest but it only itches mildly compared to the 'pitting' rash, I have even considered taking extra anti histamines but worry about being sick. I have noticed a correlating between flare up of stressful events and flat up of the stinging rash that causes the marks, almost like been bitten when I get distressed. I'm trying mindfulness again and I would like to come off medications bit hey ho I guess we all would especially with the side effects a lot of us suffer.

I like the suffering of cool shower and powder afterwards, relieves and relaxes.

Best wishes, thanks for help.
