Rash

Hi there all you lovely people. Has anyone else suffered a rash? My hubby has a rash all over his tummy where the Ascites stretches his skin, it looks like little red worms! (Although I know it isn't, haha) also is very red in groin area. Not sure if it's the meds or not.

Is it a rash or just stretch marks? If you look up 'stretch marks with ascites' on your internet search engine and then click images you'll find pictures of what I think you are describing - fairly typical with a large ascites.

Can't see anything that resembles his marks

Hi Yuiop,

My hubby had rashes, but they were mostly earlier in his case.

I would call the doctor's office and let them know, they might be helpful.

Best wishes,

Mary

Yuiop,

I have had all sorts of skin issues, pre and post transplant. Ask his doctor about fexofenadine, dermol in the shower, if he can get in and Zerobase. I also used Mizuna Honey organic cream on my groin, it is sensitive.

He'll prob need to go in and get drained again next week . We can ask then, thank you.

Agnes,

This needs to come from the GP, the MDU will be unable to assist, as lovely as they are.

The only one you’ll need to buy is the Mizuna honey cream, Holland and Barrett and most likely not containing Mizuna Honey, but it worked best for me. Ask for Medi honey at the GP and see how you get on, it worked on my ascities rash but not the groin.

My husband has a very itchy rash which vanished after his transplant. Dream cream from lush was the only thing that helped

Hubbys in hospital getting drained again (19 days since last one) hospital have given him cream, will see how he gets on with it. I've noticed each drain gets sooner than the last, and also noticed he's a lot more poorly each time I take him in.

He used to walk in, then he needed a wheelchair in hospital to get to the ward. Now he needs it when he gets out the car.

I think he's on a fast slide down at the minute.

When is his next transplant clinic appointment? We were going every 5 weeks when hubby was on list at Edinburgh. Get them to look at rash. Also, diuretic resistant ascites normally moves you more quickly up the list of need.

Best wishes

Remember if you note changes or worsening in the interim you can contact them and they will bring appointments forward. Don't necessarily wait for appointment if something feels wrong.

Hopefully the wait for you guys won't be a long one. Got my fingers crossed for you both.
