I,m a cured Hep C sufferer..... (Epculsa)..... but have the cirrhosis legacy....
I,ve been for a routine scan today and the Nurse told me I have Gallstones, would this be the cause of pains in my back which I have had for ages, and what are the fixes.
Many thanks and best wished to all on this site , it,s a great source of info !

I had Hep C too (Zepatier w/ribavirin) that led to cirrhosis. The cure took too damn long for us, but I'm glad they have it now. 🙏 Praying they find one besides transplant for liver disease.
Don't know much about gallstones, that sounds painful. Hope you're feeling better soon. Take care.
Same here w/o gallstones so far, but have had pain in my back kinda hip area! Did the drug cause us go into cirrhosis? I know they said to watch for cancers that could form 5 years after treatment but my doctors have not said anything no details! I've been away from the site for a long while..looking for updates!
There are a few variables involved if we're to have a meaningful discussion of the newer oral antivirals.
1. How long did you have Hep C before treatment?
2. Did you have prior treatment?
3. What genotype were you?
4. Were you positive for the NS5A receptor?
5. Did you have cirrhosis prior to treatment?
In my case, I had Hep C type 1a for at least 42 years before treatment in 2016, acquired most likely from a blood transfusion in 1974. I didn't know I had it until 2002, almost 15 years before I received treatment. I had a pre-employment physical back in 1987, that showed high liver enzymes. The treatment available at the time I was diagnosed was injections of peginterferon alpha-2a and ribavirin. I tested positive for the NS5A receptor, and was diagnosed with cirrhosis (via fibroscan), prior to treatment.
Hi
How are you feeling today? Re gall stones. I had mine out in October 85 at the age of 20!! The pain I had did go from ruq through to back, very painful. I have Nash plus other conditions. Nash causes a lot of pain cos my liver is so enlarged it stretches the capsule around it which causes the pain. Take care Lynne
Hi all, thanks for your replies. The pain in the back is still there ,it is constantly there , i,ve had a bad cough this week which has made it worse, every cough seems to strain the area where pain is emanating from. At the moment i,d jump at the chance to have gall bladder out but im sure with these things its probably not that straight forward !
Hi Ironontheup!
I too had my gallbladder out in 2015 after having ultrasound in 2007 which highlighted multipal gallstones! Unfortunately the 2007 results went missing! Lol! 😒😒😒 !!! In 2015 had another ultrasound due to the continuous pain in my back and side since 2005! Was then given a warning at the hospital straight away not fly due to the increase in number of gallstones which may pass into my liver! Gallbladder removed one week later by keyhole surgery! Pain in back now gone 😀!
