Last weeks blood tests showed a reduction in Bilirubin from 129 to 100. Still very high I know but felt fairly positive that things were moving in the right direction. However had my liver clinic appointment today for ultrasound, more bloods and Fibroscan. Ultrasound and physical exam revealed no sign of ascites, nothing to suggest varices but I will be going back at some point for routine endoscope. Today's new terror is Fibroscan result which was horrendous so again I am in another blind panic.
I am reading about people who are really worried about anything in double figures but mine was FIVE times that. Is there any hope of this improving now I am alcohol free ? I have a BMI of about 34 so know I need to work on diet and exercise as well. I think I read a post somewhere about someone with a 75 score who reduced it to almost normal over four years. Is this really possible ?
To be honest consultant and nurses did a lot of shaking of heads and rolling of eyes today but didn't give me much in the way of hopefulness.

Please don't worry too much. It's been my experience that if you stick with what the doctor's or consultants advise you will not go wrong. I was in a bad way, understatement by the way. Now nearly nine weeks after transplant and feeling better now than l have in twenty years.
Just remember that they will always do their best to help you.
Sorry that I don’t have specific answers for you, jacobsmum24. But I can relate. Had an mri and I was disecting everything that was said. Well when I came in the operators seemed quite chatty, but when I left they didn’t seem to make eye contact with me, etc. It’s tough.
My fibroscan score has reduced from a 58.9 to a 17.5 in less than a year. Yes it is totally possible. Ps noone should be shaking heads or rolling eyes at you. If that behaviour is directed to because of the cause of your liver disease than make a complaint to the NHS. They are to be professionals at all times. Its their damn job to be. 🙂
Take someone with you next time, as even when you are given information it is a complex topic and difficult to absorb. At a time when your worrying it is also difficult to ask questions and query information. A lot of members do this, . Also take in notes of questions you want answering. It is nothing to do with intelligence the liver is a complex organ and therefore someone who is assertive and has your best interests at heart can help you . Until they have all the various test results you often dont get a definitive diagnosis. Losing weight is a big help, it also reduces risk of diabetes type 2. They will advise on which diet you need to follow, Tummy fat/waist measurement is important. Hazelxx
