Hello

Tomorrow the 19th my partner and I are going to Ely cathedral for the East Anglian transplant service of remembrance and thanksgiving.

We didn’t even know these services existed until I got an invite from Addenbrookes hospital Cambridge to attend, what a wonderful way of remembering/sharing/thanking those that have done so much to allow us to have this second chance of life I feel truly humbled, and it falls one day before my 1st year since my gift.

Maybe some of you from here are attending or have attended in the past, if you are it would be lovely to say hi !! You can’t miss me am 6ft 4 & have the biggest smile in the world

Hi Huw, I had planned to go but with my continued spinal pain problems after my breaks makes it a no,no this year. I'm really fed up that I can't go and give my thanks at the service but I have to do the sensible thing. Hopefully this one will be the only one I miss. I lit a candle in memory of my donor in the local church at Christmas and shall do the same on my Liverversary. See you there next year. Alf

Hi huw. How are you ? how lovely is that.. a remembrance service. .. my best wishes. Linda

What a lovely idea. I'm not a religious person, but can respect others that are. It is a lovely way to reflect upon those who gave us life by way of our rebirth.

Excellent, enjoy the day.

Have a great day tomorrow! And say hello to Ely please - I was born there way back in the Sixties. There is an absolutely beautiful song on Youtube sung by the choir of Ely cathedral "Lord of all hopefulness". Please pray for me too - for my physical and mental health - and for all those who are suffering here! Many thanks!

Hi

Congratulations on your one year anniversary.

Yes, it is wonderful way of sharing, remembering and thanking those people who help us. Hope you have a wonderful day. I'm not on the list as yet but my consultant said I will be one day. Please take care Lynne

Hi Huw, that's a wonderful service for transplantees to show their gratitude for their life saving gift. I pray for people on here quite often as the need arises.Enjoy the service and say a wee prayer for all on here who have both physical and mental issues ( that's probably quite a lot of us)

Quick update

The service was very emotional but inspiring it’s something myself and donna will be attending yearly, mixing with fellow transplant recipients and family’s of loved ones who donated organs makes you feel so incredibly honoured and of course raises awareness of how important being in the donor list is

🙏❤️

Hi,

How lovely that you both attended.

Also good to know you are doing well.

Best wishes to you both,

Mary
