Can someone with almost one year sobriety tell about physical symptoms? I was diagnosed with MELD 8 and I’m experiencing muscle aches, mild nose bleeds (sinus allergy), and hungry often. I don’t like bugging doctor and like to hear first-hand experience. Seems like all pains came suddenly or perhaps just couldn’t feel them due to meds and drinks. Thanks a lot. You may add more info if you like. Beefeater

Physical symptoms
Hi
Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough.
I'm in constant pain, sometimes worse than others. My pain meds take the edge off, I know this cos I tried coming off them. I wouldn't be able to get out of bed without them. My pain meds are paracetamol, nortriptyline, zomorph and oramorph. Please take care Lynne
After one year I don’t remember physical symptoms related to not drinking. Any physical symptoms I had were to do with my liver and the side effects of it not working as it should. It can’t process minerals, vitamins, hormones, fats, sugars (basically anything that goes in your body and is whizzing round in your body), as good as a healthy liver can. So a lot of side symptoms, even thoughts come from that. I had minor nose bleeds for a while and doc told me they were similar to the spider veins (which cover my chest area) that were bursting, he said they could be cauterised but he just monitored them and they stopped as I presume I became a little more healthy.
I was decompensated and had frequent muscle cramps, they are a usual side effect. I would discuss this with your GP, along with the other problems. You are not bugging them, it is the work that they do.
Good luck with your health and well done for the sobriety, a major positive for keeping well.
Huge well done on one year sober, a massive achievement. Isn’t being hungry due to your body needing the calories that it used to get from alcohol? I’m starving nearly all the time since cutting down and now quitting alcohol.
