hi I don’t have any symptoms of cirrhosis but it is definitely confirmed. I’m afraid so much so i keep checking myself daily for signs but I really don’t want to live the life I have like this. Does anyone know how long it takes to start showing symptoms? I am so active but feel like in a way i should be waiting to die. My consultant said my blood is normal for now .

Almost 7 years since I was diagnosed and still never had any symptoms, hopefully it stays that way🤞!"Cirrhosis" describes the condition of our livers, not an illness.

It has the potential to become an illness but removing the cause stops its progressing in most cases.

My consultant says I will die with cirrhosis not because of it.

I have cirrhosis and I don’t feel like there is anything wrong. In fact I feel better than I have in years…that’s because I don’t drink anything anymore, eat well and exercise. My consultant tells me he has a lot on his books like me. Cirrhosis isn’t a death sentence provided you are sensible and follow your consultants advice.

thank you so much everyone. I feel very well fingers crossed it stays that way. X

Hi, I had NASH cirrhosis and apart from vomiting up blood twice I had no symptoms, if I hadn't vomited up blood I would never have known, right up until I was referred for transplant my bloods were all in range, ultrasound and CT scans never shew anything, 2 biopsy were inconclusive, my liver consultant always said I was a mysterious case and he contacted several other specialist to discuss my case. They knew I had portal hypertension which caused the bleeding varicies but not why. I felt fine didn't think about it, until one day I went to clinic and suddenly my bloods were deranged, LFTs ok but platelets and INR were off and transplant was mentioned, the first doctor that mentioned it I told not to be so stupid I wasn't ill. Within a month I was speaking to the transplant team but I still never felt right up until I went into theatre.Just live your life, eat well, stay away from alcohol and continue to keep fit, hopefully you will live a long life, your doctors are keeping an eye on you let them worry

What led you to the diagnosis? Were you a heavy drinker? Were your labs ever elevated? I’m just curious as to how you were diagnosed with no signs.

Two years ago, I had some symptoms and abnormal blood test levels. Since I cut out the alcohol, changed my diet and exercising 4-5x/week everything has returned to normal. I feel better than ever - have for over a year

My doctor said that it shouldn’t get worse if I keep doing what I’m doing- and that the doctors are there to monitor and control any future potential portal hypertension or cancer. I don’t have any lesions or portal hypertension.

If you never have had symptoms take action now so they don’t manifest. Some mild cirrhosis caught early can be reversed, but you have to do your part for that to be a possibility.

Take care

Death is a relative concept. It depends on your belief system. . I’m lucky to still have both parents ages 82 and 83 but lost my 21 year old daughter 9 years ago to a drunk driver. I’ve seen people live long lives waiting to die. Did they ever really live?

I have cirrhosis of the liver. Stopped drinking. Exercise and eat healthier. Feeling much better but it almost took me. Will I die from it or something else. Who knows. All I do know is death will come for us all. Once you make your peace with that it’s not so scary.

Live this life to the fullest. Let a glow from you bring peace , love, and happiness to your fellow neighbors. May God bless you and yours.

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in July 2022. I'm healthier now than in the 20 years prior to my diagnosis. It was a big wake up call for me and I took notice. I lost weight, started exercising and changed my diet.

When I see my consultant and he asks how I am. I can truthfully answer "I feel very well" because I do. I attend all of my appointments and as other have said I may die with cirrhosis, but I have no intention of dying from it.
