Glad to see on face book tonight an appeal to mothers who do the so called craze "wine of clock " to undetstand the risks involved by drinking wine everynight after putting the kids to bed not realising the danger behind it . So glad to see more adverts like this more warnings need to be put on places like facebook where people will see them and take notice . like the nasty pictures on ciggarette packets .a few pictures of the suffering of liver disease would make a few more people sit up and take notice and walk past those cheap bottles of wine in super markets that try to tempt you and the dine in for 2 deals with a bottle of wine thrown in free .if more is not done and campaigns launched there wont be enough heptologists to go around all the hospitals in yrs to come bursting at the seams with people with damaged livers .

Yes, I agree. My son said if alcohol had been discovered now it would be an illegal drug!! I have Nash caused by meds from my drs. I think there should be adverts about this too. Some DRS are too good at handing out prescriptions!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

That’s a great quote from your son, Lynne. Also a good point from CountryWalks about the £10 meal deals at supermarkets. Customers can opt for a non-alcohol alternative, but the number of people doing so could probably be counted on the thumbs of one foot!

Thank you xxxx

Yes many have said it would be an illegal drug its nothing more than toxic poision dressed up to be something nice and harmless which it is not you would not drink bleach because you know its toxic alcohol is no different 💀this should be on the bottle then maybe someone would pay attention . i notice once people come on this site they are shocked and stunned by the truth of the damage it does . And yes i was a victim who never knew .

Hi, I haven’t seen the Facebook post, however the last five years my wine has been decreasing to almost daily up until January this year, it was such a habit and easy to relax in front of the tv to two / three glasses and then more ‘because it was the weekend’. when I had some bloods taken in January and realised my liver function test results were all over the place and despite cutting back to

Normal levels ( couple of glasses on a weekend), my levels have not returned to normal 3 months later. An ultrasound confirmed no fatty liver but I have gallstones ( my symptoms whatsoever) so doc is confused and I’m being referred to a gastroenterologist

But this is not until May 22nd so I’m

Completely obsessing every day !

Its a habbit many women are getting into one heptologist i read of commented that his list of clients were not what you would expect and were now consisting of middle aged ladies who drink wine at home with there partner and then this carrys on for a few years and they end up damaging there liver without realising .alcohol is toxic to the liver drink tea coffee or a soft drink instead its not worth it .😢.hopefully youve had a lucky escape and a warning .

It can’t have been easy to cut back from wine everyday to a couple of glasses at the weekend, so well done on that. Yes, wine is great and addictive. I used to like it a lot! I wouldn’t obsess too much. See what your results say. If you’re overly concerned, try stopping altogether for a few weeks (won’t be easy). This should cause two things to happen:

A) you’ll feel way better

B) any doctor you see will take you far more seriously. It’s a very sad pattern I’ve seen on here that GPs seem to fob people off. Maybe GPs don’t believe a person wants to quit drinking. If you can tell a doctor hand on heart you’ve cut down and are determined to quit within x weeks or months, they’ll see you mean business.

Don’t stress (or drink) too much and good luck

I have not had alcohol for nearly two years yet my bloods have barely improved. I eat what I’m told to eat with the odd ice cream thrown in (just can’t seem to stop that) but I have quite a few small gallstones now which I didn’t have a year ago, he told me they can affect the blood levels and said he was doing some more tests. Try not to worry, I try and think ‘well the tests done, whatever the answer is, that’s what it is and I’ll just have to cross that bridge when I have answers’ just keep trying to be healthy.
