Well interesting! For all NAFLD diagnosis before it reaches critical stage , I was invited to join in a webcast in Pennsylvania 10 days ago , regards to living liver donor transplant, really opened my eyes as to how this professor and team push this as it has so many many advantages .. made me think that's for sure.

I was told that I had fatty liver about 3 years ago but was told that over half the population had fatty liver and not to worry about it. I now have cirrhosis. I don't think gp's take it seriously and don't give any advice.

Interesting but if doctors took current diagnostic results seriously and gave advice on diet and exercise along with increased monitoring we wouldn’t be where we are. I was told for years I had a fatty liver, but don’t worry about it. They were so blasé about it I dididn’t even google it. Next thing I know years down the line is a doctor calling me after my usual diabetic check up telling me my liver function tests were off the scale. I was then diagnosed with cirrhosis. Bitter, you bet I am.

Hi katiesgran, my cirrhosis was discovered after my yearly diabetic review too. I'd had highish inflammatory markers for about 15 years but no gp di anything about it. I'm bitter too.

Sorry ladies, I hit a nerve. My Dr didn't care either, thankfully mine hasn't progressed. I can totally understand what you are saying and feeling, I just think any step forward with testing and understanding is a good thing, to be looking at different ways to test may mean it gets treated as it should be before it progresses. All the best to you, Stacie. Xxxx

Thank you.

I have to agree with others who have mentioned that doctors don't seem to be willing to be as emphatic when discussing with their patient liver abnormalities. I wish my husband's doctors had been more direct with him about the need to quit drinking years ago, even if he had ignored them at least I would have felt they did a better job.
