Hi i have been having liver tests since August in my first test i had raised ast and alt and a ggt of 155 i cut down drinking for a few weeks had another test and my ggt was 170 i then completly stopped drinking for 8 weeks and had another test myalt and ast was fine but they forgot to test ggt and i was told my results were fine. so over christmas i drank alcohol on about 8 occasions and then found out they needed to retest in jan and i had a raised ggt of 109 it had gone down but not enough. coukd having a few drinks over christmas have made it go back up? i have no other symtoms and am not a heavy drinker. i havent drank for 9 weels now and have another test next week. has anyone else had similar experiences or any advice or information can some people be more sensitive to alcohol and get higher levels. I am not overweight and i exersize regulary

GGT can be raised after very small amounts of alcohol in some people, were you taking any supplements or meds that may have raised your liver enzymes? I ask because your other enzymes dropped but GGT remained high possibly due to the consumption over xmas, I would guess your GGT will be back down near normal after the next set of labs

I doknt think you have much to worry about. GGT is very sensitive to alcahol in some people and can take 2-6 weeks (sometimes longer to drop back down). Abstinence helps the liver recover very quickly.

one question if some people are mor3 sensitive to alcohol and their ggt is easily raised does that mean they will be more susceptible to liver damage too
