Hi - yes I had TACE 2 months ago and was pleasantly surprised by how little side effects I suffered. I have long hair and yes I did see a few more strands in my brush than usual but no more than that and now it is all back to normal.

I guess it depends on the skill of the operator as the intention of TACE is to keep the cytotoxic drugs local to the liver. The most painful aspect for me was post chemo embolisation pain - however this is easily controlled with in my case OxyCodine.

I’d happily do another cycle if it proves necessary without any worries.

Good luck with your journey and many positive thought - feel free to PM me if you want any more specific details on my TACE

Best wishe - Peter

how large were your tumor(s)?

Originally one about 3cm now followed by two more about 1.5cm each

Only the large one has been treated and the scan shows most of it gone or still receding. The others are on watching brief

Hi Peter You seem to be in the same position as I am, had my TACE 10 days ago symptoms are manageable they are only concentrating on the big one this time, waiting for scan appointment to see if it has worked not sure about other 2 smaller ones hugs

Hi there Firstly good luck with your TACE.

I have had three TACE now, for HCC. I found them ok, and would not be worried at all about having more. Most importantly they work. They shrunk my tumours.

Yes, I did find my hair went a little thinner. I got over by having it cut quite short it was ok. Growing again now so does not last that long maybe. Well for me it seems that way.

I send a virtual hug for you.

There are lots of great folks on here who can offer support and personal experience advice.

Stay strong and happy.

Hi Shaky. I had 2 sessions of TACE. My tumours shrunk and continued to do so. They had not re-grown 4 years later. I think the hair loss is short term and is because of the liquid chemo put into the tumours. All the best. Alf
