How long can stage 4liver disease keep someone suffering.? I just cant believe it! Still my husband suffers in home care. Its been almost 2 yrs of going thru pain , suffering, symptoms of every sort and hospitals. I just cant bear to see my husband sometimes. Its so sad. He sits on his bed scared looking, skinny except where hes extremely swollen. Can't eat nothing more than 3soft items. Cant swallow. He's done with hospitals. But he hangs on. I often wonder if his mind helps keep him living. He was a VERY SMART intellectual..VERY. I just can't understand it. Has anyone had a loved one suffer so long? Please tell me your experience.
Unbelievable : How long can stage 4liver... - British Liver Trust
Unbelievable
Depending on the stage hes in some of the suffering may never subside unfortunately. Sometimes the only remedy is a liver transplant. Stage 4 (cirrhosis) is divided into 4 stages onto itself. By the sounds of his pain and swelling he is in the decompensated stages. (3 or 4) have you spoken to the doctors about transplant assessment?
It's ironic. My husband is First Nations and that was the first question we asked. His exact reply was "First Nations people never get transplants (and I've heard that before). We asked why and he said he really doesn't know. He REALLY doesnt know. So we left it at that. But I'm going to investigate that. We may still have time. I know that my husband and I are just unbelievably tired and worn out from fighting this disease..my husband esp.
I was end stage decompensated cirrhosis. Type B blood, so a long wait. 3.5 years from diagnosis to transplant. It is seriously difficult, good and bad days, I was close to giving up hope but then the call came through. Keep going to the hospitals, is he listed for transplant?
See my last post to Phoenix P. I JUST wrote abòt transplants.. Thank you for your concern..
I have googled it and you are in Canada? My sympathies are with you.
You are going through the mill at the moment.
You really need to sit down with your consultant and get to the bottom of what is the problem.
No one should suffer like this in 2019.
I'm decompensated stage 3 sliding toward a stage 4.
