Hi everyone, Well I go into hospital tomorrow and get my gallbladder removed feeling very nervous now I hope its not too long a recovery. My husband fell on Tuesday and hurt his ribs he has brittle bone disease I also have my son at home he is special needs so I can't be immobile for long I need to get healthy quickly.
hi cheli are you getting it done by laparoscopy? as you know i'v had mine out but it was a different scenario altoghther. if its a laparoscopy i'v seen people leave the same day and some maybe stay in a day longer or two days but never seen anyone stay longer than that when i was in hospital. and even the ones who get cut open at the top are up and about very quickly as they make you get up in hospital for showers the morning after the operation. and from what i'v seen people seem to recover very quickly and are up on their feet in no time. even me who had a five hour operation had to get up the next morning for that shower. i wanted it as i thought of germs and keeping my scar clean even although you dont actually touch the wounds directly with the water you let it run above the scars and run down and then dab them dry. even if you get a laporoscopy you will wash the same way letting the water run down above the scar and dab dry. they will give you clean dressings to take home with you and within 5 days they are all of. no stitches that need to come out either. its all very neat even the scar looks as if its just been cut with a razor blade.its very important to keep that scar clean and dry. i was at the hospital yesterday for me 6 week check up and i met a woman who was in there with me unfortunately she had cancer of the pancrease i saw her yesterday as she was in for her check up too. she was telling me that after she got out of the hospital her scar got infected and she was taken back in. its only natural to be nervous cheli, when i got mine done and when i saw others getting there gallbladder out they are all looked after well the minute they wake up the nurses are there with painkillers. so you wont be in agony. sorry to hear about your husband and your son cheli im pretty sure you will be able to manage as the only thing is a bit of pain when we come home and you will have plenty pain relief. i wish you all the best darlin. im pretty positive to say you wont be immobile for more than two days. even then its not as if you need bed pans or anything.except for the first pee as they have to measure it for some reason. then after that your up to the toilet. so dont worry on that score.let us know how you are cheli and all the best love grace xoxoxo
Thanks for that Grace its so helpful to speak to people that have suffered the same thing, I didn't want to talk to my husband about how I was feeling as I didn't want him worrying. I am getting keyhole and if everything's ok I will be back home tonight my daughter is coming to stay a few days to help out I'm so grateful for that. I'll let you know how I'm coping when I can.
thinking of you right now cheli its 10.41am and there is every chance that your getting your gallbladder out right now and sound asleep. i hope everything goes well for you and just wanted to let you know im thinking about you. god bless and a speedy recovery. love grace xoxoxo🙏
I'm hearing some great stories about being pain free and able to move around shortly afterwards. It's very reassuring as I'm due for my op on 28th September. Good luck Hun and hope all goes well xxx
Hi Sarah, thanks for the wishes, op went well I'm usually pretty sick after I wake up but was fine they didn't give me gasses to breathe only oxygen while I was asleep. It was good to get back home my husband and s on are doing a grand job looking after me. I am allergic to the dressings they put on the result is I've got angry red blisters where the dressings were stuck using salon which is cooling them down quite a bit. So don't you worry about your op you'll be ok, I'll be thinking of you on the 28th just remember you do have to rest.
Hi Cheli. So glad it's all over for you. The blisters sound yuck for you though. Good old hubby looking after you - hope he's on the mend too. All the best for a full recovery xxx
As said by grace111 nothing to get yourself concerned about the recovery is different to each person I found my body telling me it is enough Time for a rest please do not ignore it all the best listen to your body rallyman
yes very true. we need to listen to our bodies and if we need to have a little sleep or a rest then we must do that. never ignore our body.
Hi Cheli,
hope it all goes well.please dont worry. You wont be "awake and its minimally invasive.I had mine removed in 2013 and was due to come home the same day but stayed in overnight purely because it took me longer to come round from the anaesthetic, had no problems at all with the op itself.they make 4 small incisions .hope you can go home the same day.
how are you cheli? i hope that your operation went well and that your not in any pain, keep us posted when your able. thinking about you. love grace xoxoxo💐
Hi Grace Yes all went well got op Friday afternoon, woke up about 6pm and husband picked me up at 7.30 nurse came in yesterday to check wounds and change dressing had to call nurse to come back out today I took a severe reaction to the adhesive dressing that was put on so now as well as my wounds I also have large angry red blisters which are very sore told not to have a shower until Tuesday then I can take the dressings of afterwards.
oh no thats so annoying, i hope you got pain killers for this, and im glad that your up and the operation went fine, i hope all is well with those spots when you take the dressings of on tuesday, thinking about you. love grace xoxoxo
