I had a transplant in March 2018 due to accidental paracetamol overdose (over a prolonged period of time) I was very poorly and ended up in an induced coma and spent just over 3 weeks in critical care before being moved to the ward. I am still having ongoing bile duct issues and have had 2 stents so far and another one planned in the next few weeks. I am here to share my story but also it’s a very tough journey and so to read other peoples accounts can be reassuring on a tough day..

Hi There

I too was put in an induced coma in October 2018 with 3 weeks in ICU and HDU and a further 3 weeks on a ward was given basically no chance of survival.

It's been tough and I know how you feel have good days and bad days.

I hold onto the good days as they are happening more often now.

I wish you well your not alone.

Thank you for your reply, how are you now? I’m having a tough few days as I think I’ve picked up a tummy bug but as I’ve been back into hospital so many times since the transplant with various complications it can seem really overwhelming. I do have good days, I’ve had good weeks as well when I see glimpses of the old me, and I’m laughing or my brain isn’t so foggy and tired and I know I’m moving in the right direction, but then I get another infection or I seem to get like chronic fatigue where just basic tasks seem massive and it feels so frustrating! How are you feeling now, it hasn’t been that long really for you? It’s reassuring to hear from others who have been through similar experiences x

Hi Queens

I'm 49 and very lucky I have compensated liver damage.

Poor you sounds like you have been through so much.

I really thought I'd be back at work after a few months how wrong was.

I still have pain in my arms and legs sometimes forgetful I also had a stroke in ICU and suspected sepsis.

Just glad to be here one day at a time hopefully back to work soon.

You keep soldiering on you will get there keep your chin up. 😊

Did you mention why you needed a transplant?

Good luck meet InTouch.X

hi i just wonder if they have mentioned any kind of operation for your bile duct to keep it open rather that going through that horrible procedure of having a stent put in. when i had a stent in my bile duct i had a procedure called and ENT and they gave me some kind of injection saying i would have no memory but it never worked and i felt the whole thing. i eventually had the operation and actually had to have a new bile duct made from bowel tissue. its amazing what those surgeons can do. absolutely amazing. wishing you well.love grace xoxoxo
