Hi Mr? Miss? Mrs? Ms Timid,

I have Wernicke's encephalopathyfrom my liver disease but it was caused thru alcohol not NASH.

Walking problems come with cirrhosis I have found out.

Cheers,

Brett

My dad has alcohol related decompensated liver.his wobbly legs started a couple of years ago.he now has peripheral neuropathy and cant walk unfortunately.his was related to his illness through drinking, plus muscle wastage from not eating for months on end.started off as pins n needles, numbness, wobbly and quite unsteady.probably advise getting checked out by doc or hosp.

Best wishes and hope you're ok

Hi timid

Absolutely same problems. As for trying to walk in the dark its a nono unless I can lean against the wall!

Yes my husband has stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver, we've known for a little over a year after 20 years of trying to find out what was wrong with him. Diagnosis was confirmed after liver biopsy, after which he was gave 12 months to live. He is ineligible for a transplant due to multiple other health problems. Sometimes his legs just give out and he falls probably 5 or 6 times a week, he walks with a cane and moves like he is 90 years old, he is 62. Many days he is able to get up and do a few things but it seems like at the end of the day is when he has spells of weakness and it's like someone has turned a switch off on his legs. We figure it's because he was told to not ever eat meat of any kind again as it makes him sick and he was even warned about drinking protein drinks, so basically he relies on beans and milk, cheese and eggs for his protein needs. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing leg weakness too but I guess it's all part of it and it's heartbreaking to watch. Good luck and hopefully you will feel better soon.

It is a common thing to suffer from. I can walk further now than I could when I was first diagnosed with cirrhosis, but I do get out of breath, prone to toppling and hold onto something for support. I have frequent dizzy spells as well. Recently started getting pains in my knees. Oh the joys of life with this disease, now where’s that bright side of life???
