We've had the call

My brother got the call at 430 am this morning, we got through to Edinburgh around 6. Just waiting for the go ahead. This is our second call, unfortunately the first liver wasn't good enough to transplant. Trying not to get hopes built up as we were all gutted when the first one didn't go ahead.

Sending lots of positive thoughts. I hope it’s ok but if the liver isn’t good enough it’s better not to have it. Thinking about you, your brother and all the family. If it’s successful you will have a new, lively brother. I am so very thankful for mine. Try not to worry, have a rest as you’ll want to be with it when he wakes!

Yes I did Kate50, at the end of January. They have been wonderful. I have unfortunately developed CMV but am being monitored very closely.

Wishing you, your brother, family and friends lots of luck, strength and good wishes. Really hope all goes well!

Just been told that the transplant isn't going ahead, I'm sure his time will come

And it will. Remember his team are doing what’s in his best interest. They only want the best for him. Take comfort in the fact you know he is near or top of the list and it’s now just a matter of time.

Sorry I was late in my reply as you will read but new email account and messages just started coming through properly. So sorry didnt work this time. The 3rd time will be a charm. Maybe I didn’t see it but was the liver not suitable for your husband? Again best of luck from Canada. 🌈

All the very best for next time xx

Had my transplant in Edinburgh year ago, excellent team and very supportive. From the moment he wakes up he will feel better. My sisters were very attentive and appreciated their banter in the following days in the hospital.

The nurses are so nice, and so busy they never stopped yesterday. He had to go on an iv drip for 6 hours so we were there from 6am til 8pm. Thank god for that m and s in the foyer.

Oh good luck hope this is the one x

They couldn't transplant the donor liver, so unfortunately we headed back home to Glasgow. Its such a roller-coaster of emotions but feeling positive again this morning. I'm sure it won't be too long until he gets his chance

in reply to b0nnie12

Yes it won’t be long . It took Karl 4 times but better to wait and get the best . Xxx

Hang on in there and keep positive which I know is difficult. It feels like an eternity when you’re waiting! My husband got his transplant on the 4th call which was a day after the 3rd call!! It is a rollercoaster but as others have said your brother is at the top of the list and the team are trying really hard to get him well. Sending love and good wishes to you all. X

Hope your husband is doing well. He's been on the list since Jan, we had the first call in March and the donor liver wasn't suitable, this was our second, one of the nurses said they had a patient who got the transplant at the 12th attempt. We will just keep our bags packed and wait for the phone to ring again

Fingers crossed the phone rings again very soon (usually the early hours!) and your brother will be post transplant. My husband is doing really well thank you and his quality of life improved beyond recognition. We’re so grateful to our donor and the wonderful transplant team. You’re in safe hands, good luck xx

That's great your husband is doing so well after his transplant. I think the reality of what's ahead is hitting him and he's scared of putting his life in someone else's hands.

He honestly couldn't be in better hands. As my husband said "what's the alternative"
