In order to cut down on your drinking you need to look at what causes you to drink in the first place. Then see if it has become a habit.... is it certain times of the day? When you've established the pattern of your drinking you need to replace those drinking times with something else to distract you. Exercise is a great tonic and far healthier for you. Even just a walk in the lovely summer sunshine or a bike ride etc will help. Drink plenty of water.

If you struggle to kick it yourself and need help, see your GP about getting some therapy / councelling. There are support groups or 1 to 1 sessions available everywhere.

As for food..... eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, fish and chicken. Eat smaller meals little and often.

Good luck. Hope your health improves

Thanks

When I first got sick with alcoholic fatty liver, I simply couldn't face setting a date and saying "nevermore" to alcohol, so I made some "new rules". I drank only light beer, and only after dinner / before bed.

After a few weeks, I found I could push the start time for my evening tipple back to an hour or so after dinner. It didn't take long before I was getting by on just a couple of light beers before bed.

When I started getting frustrated about not being able to have a binge, I bit the bullet and killed the beast. No withdrawals, no drugs, & not really all that much stress.

What ever works best for you is what you should go with. Keep trying different methods until you find what works. When all else fails, a medical detox also works well, but it's important to understand you really can't ever drink again once you start on detox meds.

Best of Luck, & let us know what eventually works for you.

Well done ! 👍

I'm sure you've read this on many posts but I'll mention it again. Normal blood tests do not always mean you dont have liver damage. First off all the run of the mill tests that we often get known as liver panel tests dont even include most of the key screening liver proteins and enzymes. Everyone gets quite aquainted with the ast alt etc. But most tests dont include GGT let alone haptoglobin , APO lipoprotien, any of the immuniglobulins, or even ferritin. People with cirrhosis often have normal blood work if there disease is inactive at the time of the test. So blood work only goes so far. That being said alcohol affects way more of the body than just the liver.
