biopsy
Hello juejue69, you have a 50/50 chance that it may not be as bad as you think. I was pleasantly surprised when I had mine. Best wishes...red
Had one last week.... really is a simple procedure.... minimal pain for peace of mind....
I had my first in 2011 and my second a couple of months ago. I know it's a scary time, but I am sure you will be in great hands, they use an ultrasound at the same time to make sure it's safe, you will be invited to a pre-assessment appointment (probably a week before) where they will go through the procedure with you and answer any questions you have. It may help to write things down as you think of them then take that with you to the appt. The nursing staff afterwards will keep an eye on you for a few hours to make sure you're ok. After that you will probably have an appt with your specialist to go through the results. Where are you going for it? What has caused your inflammation? (Sorry I'm nosey) 😉
Hi
I was nervous before my biopsy but was absolutely fine. My biopsy found I had non alcoholic steatohepititis caused my meds my Dr has given me over the years!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hello juejue, may I ask if you have had all the other tests done first, i.e. Fibroscan, MRI or CT scans. While I'm not against biopsy's, I think they should be a last resort as it can be an unnecessary, invasive procedure. I know some GP's may order up a biopsy based upon blood tests alone, which I think is the wrong way to go about it. However if it is a consultant that's requesting this, then I would most certainly have it done as consultant herpetologist/gastroenteritis certainly know what their talking about. I should mention that this is my own opinion and is not base upon any medical fact, as I am not qualified.
Good luck
I know it’s easy to say try not to worry. I’ve had 2 and just let them know your apprehensive. By liver doctor allowed my GP to prescribe me diazepam to take prior to it and the nurses who were checking my vitals all new and fine.
It took the edge off for me as hands up when I worry I cry and my teeth chatter. I’m 35 but sometimes we all get scared and nervous.
Just make sure they inject enough local anaesthetic and let the nurses know you are worried and the person doing it. It’s easier for them if you know. I focused on the clock in the room and tried to take my mind elsewhere. Lots of silence and scanning and breathing and holding it in to get best position.
The initial needle is only a shock it’s a really strange sensation just focus on your breathing for them and try to take your mind away.
It’s not painful just not pleasant. I felt pain/discomfort after as the liver pain is felt deep in your right shoulder I can only for me liken it to being kicked in the shoulder. It’s not a sharp pain a deep dull ache and deep breathing in was a little sore after for 3 hours.
I wish you well with it any questions just ask xx
juejue69, hello there, by now you probably have had your liver biopsy done (or not). Hope everything went well for you. Red
Don’t be scared honey, needs to be done. Are they going through the neck? It’s uncomfortable but not painful and it’s over real quick. Good luck. X
