I was told yesterday by co ordinators that the way your chosen to recieve a possible liver transplant has changed as in that it’s not just your hospitals catchment area but country wide, so for example a liver in say London could well be used in Scotland as it’s only one list, has anyone else heard this

Huw, there does indeed seem to have been a change in allocation policy. There are documents on the NHS Blood & Transplantation page which go into the policies. Not sure whether its a good thing or not to be honest. Though it does look like they reassess the system every 4 weeks to ensure a fair distribution of livers to all centres. Documents are at:- odt.nhs.uk/transplantation/... (and they go live March 2018).
I was told something similar about waiting lists changing. It will apparently help People like me whose LFT’s don’t reflect my need for transplant. My consultant said that although it was great and will benefit some
People he couldn’t guarantee if I’d be able to transfer my 17 months waiting time. So he said he will look into it more and discuss it with me at a later date....🤷🏻♀️ who knows. I hope your next call comes soon so that you don’t have to worry about this Huw! X
Looks like we are in the same boat chelle as my LFTs are great it’s the HCC that requires transplant. Are you thinking that the amount of time we been on list counts as nothing and we start again at scratch?x
My doctor said he couldn’t confirm anything and that he needed to look into it. I told him It was a lot of time waiting to be thrown away. He said it was a decision we’d come to together when everything g had been put in black and white and he knew the way forward. So who knows.....I hope it carries over!
The doctors mentioned something to me about 6 weeks ago about the list criteria changing this month, though didn't go into specific detail of the changes.
