Mr J A. I have had a ct scan with contrast dye of my abdomen. Been now called for an endoscope procedure. Previous endoscope, 18 months ago clear but told I had compensated cirrhosis. What might they now be looking for?

If it was 18 months since your last endoscopy this is probably just routine. In someone with cirrhosis it is common to check regularly for signs of portal hypertension, varices etc. Perhaps they picked up some abnormal portal veinous flow during your CT scan and they just want to follow it up. My hubby has compensated cirrhosis and has an ultrasound scan every 6 months and an endoscopy once a year - he previously has had 42 varices banded so they keep an eye on him even though he has been clear of varices since May 2014.
Probably just routine.
All the best, Katie
