Anyone here experience false negatives on imaging tests? For example, had an US, MRI, endoscope all come back negative/normal but end up catching something on liver biopsy? Curious as I have a biopsy coming up and anxiety is really starting to ramp up.

I was told I had fatty liver caused by meds from my drs but when I had a biopsy I was told I had Nash with fibrosis. Take care Lynne
I had portal hypertension, and reverse flow in the portal vein. Diagnosed by endoscope, us and ct scan. Had a transplant and the surgeon said there was no problem with the portal vein!! Guess there’s no substitute for actually getting your hands dirty on it!! 😜😜

Hi Pilo, well definitely odd, but I was thankful at the time - turned a more complicated and risky operation into a ‘straightforward’ one!! My response wasn’t meant to be flippant and non caring - I may have got the tenor wrong. If so, I do apologise!!
Now I am intrigued! So are you saying that during the TP the surgeon noticed the PV eas OK and that made the TP easier? I really don’t know enough of the details of a TP but thought there was only one type of TP except maybe - again I don’t know- whether they remove your gall bladder or not? Mine said goodbye to me.

Hiya Miles, was told post assessment that I needed a specific liver type for transplant. Had to be a dbd donor. And they were going to transplant the portal vein from the donor too!! Surgeon came to see me just before going into surgery and said greater risk cos of the pv issue, meant longer on table and greater chance of not surviving procedure. My other half was at this stage going into mild panic mode. Then immediately after op he told her that there was nothing wrong with my vein, and he plumbed in the new liver and it went to work straight away!! Hey, I was fast asleep during all of this!!

My whole lot was TPd and they never said there was greater risk because PV had to say cheerio as well but it never complained once so probably knew it was inevitable 😀. Not knowing? Well ignorance is or was bliss 😀

Hi Huggy. Mine was a DBD donor, liver + portal vein. I spoke to the surgeon during the night whilst waiting to go to theatre and there was no mention of it being a more difficult or longer operation. I'm glad about that too! My wife and son had enough to worry about! 
Hi Alf, yes mine was dbd, and it didn’t worry me at all when he said it - I was just in functional mode. But I felt so so sorry for samantha hearing it!! But hey, I got to keep my own pv!! 😜😜
At that time when you are just a short time from transplant you are not really taking things in as you normally would. It all seems surreal, as if it's happening to somebody else. I got the phone call at 1am and so I was already tired when we got to the hospital at 3 am. Strange thing is though, tired as I was and ill as I was, I remained awake until I went to theatre at 8am, and yet for the previous year I had been falling asleep as soon as I sat in a chair. It must have been adrenaline that kept me awake!
Now come on big fred stop copying my story 😁. I think I can say ditto to just about everything you say 👍 or 👎🏻. Except you’re older than me 😁. <joke>. That marathon challenge isn’t any closer though boo hoo 😐l

This is certainly very possible, even liver biopsies are far from "fool proof"

I have had many ultrasound scans which didn’t pick up the fact that I had a thrombosis in my portal vein! It as picked up when I eventually had a CT scan. I don’t believe I ever had a liver biopsy but can’t be positive because I was “out of it” a lot because of HE. But you seem to have had the works so I don’t know what to say - sorry!
