Did anyone's start like this??

My diagnosis came after approx 3 years of being told nothing is wrong.

I was trying to lose weight, I was about 49/50. I was kick boxing and cross training about 6 hours a week, also biking and walking. I was very strict with my diet, only meats and veggies. But I kept gaining weight. Some people tried to tell me it was muscle weight, but it was mostly in my stomach. I begin looking pregnant. No matter what I did thenweight crept up, them my BP, them my blood sugar. The doctors said everything was fine, my blood sugar was in the high 90s so it was OK. My BP was controlled with meds. "You are healthy" you just need to eat less. I tried every diet but gained and didn't lose. I was put on every diet med in the USA but continued to gain. The only thing that worked was Saxenda which is the same as Victoza, but I had an injection site reaction.

And here I am. Everything is bad, triglycerides, blood sugar, A1C, all of it.

My biggest concern before I heard of liver fibrosis was my hugely distended belly. It's still huge. It's not fluid. Has anyone had this??

Hi Lara,

I'm sorry you're ill. If you say it's not fluid (so not ascites), what were you diagnosed with?

Liver fibrosis based on an ultrasound. My doctor is working on preapproval for a CT scan. She ordered these tested because of how distended my stomach is.

So the ultrasound showed you didn't have ascites? I don't know what issues of the liver would cause a distended abdomen besides that.

I agree. But that's what concerned the Dr enough to order the test. I really don't know what it is. But it's extremely uncomfortable.

Hi

So sorry that you aren't well. Are your liver and spleen very enlarged, just wondered if that could cause your symptoms. Please take care. Lots if love Lynne xxxx

Really doesn't sound like liver issues so don't stress too much! Ultrasound is just one indicator for further exploration, not a definitive picture. You could have an off ultrasound but still have a perfectly fine liver. All you can do is wait on the CT, which should identify why your abdomen is bigger, and keep up the healthy habits.

No. I had a CT scan in 2015 to rule out adrenal tumors. The scan wasn't the whole abdomin. This why the insurance didnt want to cover a CT scan now. Apparently at that time and unbeknownst to me, the scan showed fatty liver.

Fast forward to present. I gained 10 pounds from Sept to Dec. I didn't change my eating or exercise and all the weight is in my belly. I'm not pregnant. I'd been having other stomach issues but the 2 different gastros I saw told me nothing was wrong. I've had very pale stool for 4 years. The gastros ordered routine tests, colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. They were both ok, so I was fine. Diarrhea, nausea after eating, acid reflux, all ok and normal.

Anyway the ultrasound showed a very enlarged liver. They couldn't even see the pancreas and other organs because the liver is enlarged and consistent with fibrosis.

Btw, I've been having spikes in my liver enzymes for 3 years.
