can i drink again?: sorry for my bad... - British Liver Trust
can i drink again?
You need to see your doctor as soon as you can as a dark stool could mean lots of things. Stay off the drink is a good start.
You definitely need to have it checked out. I had dark stools due to a bleeding stomach ulcer and ended up in A&E 2 days later. It could of course be something else but better to be safe than sorry with your health.
You need to see the doctor regarding these current symptoms, especially if your stool is black or tarry/sticky as it could indicate possible internal bleeding.
I would suggest that if the doctor has advised the cessation of alcohol and better/less fatty diet he is thinking there is perhaps some issue with your liver and if you have had that warning it would be advisable to avoid alcohol altogether forever - if you've been used to drinking that amount daily it is a possible you've gotten some liver damage and i'd suggest that in someone with a current daily drinking habit it would be near impossible to stick to a 'oh i'll only drink one day of the week'.
I suggest you have a look at the British Liver Trust guidance on alcohol and the liver. britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...
You've had or having a warning about your liver health and you do need to heed it and look after your liver going forward.

Why are asking if you can still drink if the doctor and your own body are telling you not to? If you're used to having 7 units before you even have breakfast, I very much doubt you'll go back to just one a week but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.
Why not stay off the booze for good. If it clearly concerns you, then why add to the concern by drinking.
