I finally had my gastro appointment today and it went well. First thing they did was another firboscan before sitting down with me. It was 6.6! Which means it's gone down from 9.0. The doc who was very nice said this is normal and there is nothing to worry about. Maybe the first reading was a little high from eating or previous injury.

I'm still never drinking again and cutting my sugar way down. I'm not trying to get too relived yet until it's been a while (and I have a couple of other random tests she ordered). Hopefully I caught it just in time.

Thanks for all the advice and info on here. Everyone is great. I'll still be on here for future health and post updates.

Peace and love.

Hey Ronin, great to hear a good news story once in a while. I concur, if drinking is what caused a 9.0, then not drinking is the way to go. Once, the liver is damaged, it can repair, but damage is more likely to occur after the initial liver injury. I also became really sick from taking too many medications, mostly ones with Tylenol in it. My liver became so inflamed that I had acute portal hypertension, that tore my linea alba. It was the worse experience ever, and beat my spinal tumor. Mayo clinic diagnosed me with acute hepatitis and a severe Drug Induced Liver Injury. At least with the spinal tumor, I had a general idea of what was going on. Anyway, six months down the road my liver reading was a 4.8. It went back to normal, I took not OTCs, no drinking, ate healthy and I watched my sugar intake. You're doing everything right, and it seems like your liver is thanking you for it. Some people don't find out their liver is in trouble until it's too late. Defiantly something to be thankful for, as a person who works in the medical field. I'd like to see fibroscans become a check the block type of health test that one gets starting at the age of 30. As many liver disease are hard to detect and signs don't show up until we are in trouble. I wanted to make sure I dropped some positive feedback your way.

Great news! I had a fibroscan in feb this year. It was 27. F4stsage. My lft was good .no varices...but after my scan 2 weeks ago i was told i had fatty liver ? Yet i was under the impression that cirrhosis of which i have had 9yrs now is the last stage of liver disease and that fatty and inflamed liver came before cirrhosis. My diet has not been so good due to late stage osteopenia of the hip so mobility isnt as good as it was so hence the high sugar intake due to all the crap i have been eating. So difficult to keep a track on sugar levels as its well hidden in lots of things. Even carrots have a lot of sugar ! 🤔🤔.

Thanks guys, you are right kurtymac. Fibroscan should be a regular thing like blood pressure and cholesterol. I would say 25 not 30. Most people if warned will do something about their condition. It will save so much money to health in the long term too.

I hope I can treat my liver right and it settles down. We’ll see.

Mille you are also right cirrhosis is end stage. I wonder if you were told you had cirrhosis before but actually had an earlier stage of the disease. From my research I have come to find sugar is almost as bad as alcohol for the liver. Pop is the worst. Stay clear. Have plenty of vitamin d for your osteopenia. Coffee is good for the liver and health in general as long as it’s with no sugar and little cream. They’ve done extensive studies on coffee and its good at preventing and for people with liver disease. They don’t know why though. Something to do with the caffeine.

Hope you feel better. Thanks for your support.

I drink lots of coffee, probably why I bounced back! Staying hydrated is important, as coffee tends to dehydrate and cause blood pressure increase. Good for the liver, can be hard on the kidneys. However, H2O, supplements that pretty well.

Yea I try to balance out with enough water. Better for teeth after coffee is water :-)

Hey Ronin

Sorry late to the discussion but I just have a question I'm from Canada as well and I just got a referral to see a specialist in London Ontario about my Ultrasound results. The report said My liver had a slight course ecotechture I was wondering where you went for your appointment and do u think I should get a fibroscan befor so I can discuss the results. I'm 37 with 2 young kids and a long history of heavy drinking. I've been sober for 4 months now and all blood tests have been good.

Thanks for your time

I went to a liver clinic here in Vancouver and paid, was $125. There’s probably something similar in London.

Have you been referred to a gastro about your liver? If you have I imagine they’ll do a fibroscan first when you go in. Then you won’t need to pay.

When is your appointment? I hope it goes well.

Thanks for the quick reply yes my doctor referred me to the gastrointestinal doctor in London. My appointment is March 9 so I'll be almost 6 months sober but who's counting lol. My family doctor didn't even tell me about my ultrasound results he said they were all clear but when I read the report and saw the course remark I lost most faith in him so I asked for a referral now I'm terrified about future results.

Anyway thanks again and congrats on the great results
