RUQ PAIN x 1 year

This is my first post and I hope to finally get some answers. I have had RUQ pain x 1 yr now with no idea what is causing it. Lfts are normal, ultrasound normal, Hyda scan normal, I have lost almost 15lbs. The pain is constant, stabbing, gnawing like someone is twisting the inside of my body as tight as they can. I can't handle it anymore. Anyone else have any symptoms like this? Any advise on a diagnosis or what to do next??? Help!!

Maybe you could request an MRI scan it shows things in more detail than an ultrasound scan. You can't live in that much pain constantly, I would talk to my GP there's obviously something not right.Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. 🤞🤞

Are you a good weight, Is your diet healthy, if its even moderately high in fat it could be your gall bladder, pain on a not to often basis is maybe wind or just a gastric issue, but when your getting it all the while then it needs sorted, try changing your diet to low fat while you wait for further tests and see if it helps.

If you are overweight then wearing tight clothing could also be part of the problem.

Pain is the way your body tells you something isn't right. I agree you need to find out what is causing it. I concur with an MRI, an MRI with gadovist and glucagon would be the study that would be ideal for your type of situation. As this slows down the stomach and intestines and makes the liver standout better and highlights the biliary system. A fibroscan is another good test, gives you a KPA for fibrosis and a CAP for liver steatosis (fat). Sometimes, it is hard to distinguish with MRI, CT, ultrasound how much fibrosis or liver fat somebody has. That is why fibroscan is great. Lastly, it could be something else, your ascending colon and transverse colon get pretty closer to the RUQ area. If all else fails, endoscopy to rule out gastritis and other inflammatory issues. Colonoscopy to look at the intestines. Getting all of these tests can be difficult but the squeaky wheel gets the most attention. You won't get a biopsy with good labs and no apparent reason for your pain. These other tests will help get to the bottom of it. Not sure about the other tests, but you can get a fibroscan privately without a GP's order. A year of constant pain is enough to drive anybody crazy, it needs to be identified. Again, unless you have a reason to, don't put all of your cards on the liver. There are many organs jam packed in the peritoneum area.
