If you want to manage your condition going forward, educate yourself about the condition then you can ask appropriate and informed questions and take ownership of your health. The British Liver Trust website has an excellent page with downloadable leaflet about PBC which is now normally called Primary Biliary Cholangitis rather than cirrhosis owing to the confusion having cirrhosis in the title caused.

Hopefully they can get your condition under control very soon.

Hi Snappit , that sounds confusing and if like me scary, have you joined the PBC community on here? healthunlocked.com/pbc-foun..., run by PBC foundation who have a website pbcfoundation.org.uk/ they are an amazing support especially when newly diagnosed. All their details are there, they have a helpline and will talk to you. The community really welcomed me and answered some of my fears, I was and still am so shocked.
I was diagnosed with PBC in March by a gastro consultant, the meds he gave me and the fact he named the disease wrong made me question and my GP referred me to a hepatologist who states I have an autoimmune liver disease (PBC is one) but my results are a mystery, so now having tests for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, still worried and scared and just want answers, your head will be whirling I am sure. But lots of folk here on the British Liver Trust and on PBC are so good.
By the way the gastro guy called mine Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, once I discovered the name had changed, I had my suspicions he knew not much about it, along with the piles of meds I was given and assurances I would feel better the day after. My GP was good, agreed I needed a consultant who knew the disease at the least and referred me.
