I have had three endoscopies for varise banding and each time I feel worse and cant eat solids for two weeks..,I got some bread stuck the last time when I was eating OK again I thought and stupidly took too much water and nothing went down until I was able to get rid of the water! That was scary and made me realise that there was still sensitivity there. This Last banding has been more painful but only on day three..I see that a lot of people are able to eat OK after a few days but not me. Anyone know if it could be scar tissue? And if so what can I do? I have PBC stage 4.; thanks

The longest my hubby was off solids for was about 8-14 days (normally around 7) - he has had 42 bands. He developed a banding related stricture just above the entrance to the stomach - though this hasn't led to any long term difficulties eating. The stricture is mentioned on his endoscopy reports which we get a copy of each and every time.
Do you get your reports? or has anything been mentioned about a stricture / narrowing? If your inability to eat normally is persisting so long it needs to be mentioned to your endoscopist / specialist (hubby is lucky as his is one and the same person). It might be that you are experiencing a narrowing due to banding scarring but only your endoscopist will know this for certain.
Hi, I've had 6 bands last year which I suffered afterwards for about a week and due some more on 20th October. I get spasms for days and off my food as it hurts going down. Your not on your own with this, it's a horrible procedure.
Wishing you well
