I appreciate your optimism. Bitter melons work as liver cleanser like excluding fats etc. Its great if you are obese and it has other benefits too. Diet is very important, that's what I have so far experienced in my father's case. The medications prescribed have a lot of side effects and to annul them you need a proper power supply and that come from the natural food. I know to some home remedies and herbs may sound stupid as the treatment of cirrhosis but it works, if it doesn't heal the liver completely it protects it getting further damaged.

Just highlighting that eating bitter melon will most likely have no effect on cirrhosis.

ZABhora has experience of diabetes and liver disease, some of the foods on the list they have posted are for diabetic patients to try.

Bitter melon and bitter gourd are the same vegetable by the way.

You would be better with the papaya, as though there is no scientific evidence, there is some theoretical evidence that papaya seeds have anti inflammatory properties on the gut and digestive system.

Carrots are high in Vitamin E which you can also get by eating nuts, seeds, wheatgerm and olive oil. If you have liver disease its good to switch from saturated fats to olive oil, so you could get your Vitamin E this way. In the US where like here in the UK there is an increase in fatty liver, its possible that foods with Vitamin E are good for someone with NASH, particularly olive oil, helping to reduce fat stored in the liver

From what I remember from your previous posts Mushroom, your cirrhosis is due to the genetic condition alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. With a genetic condition, a bit like with an autoimmune condition where the bodies immune system is attacking healthy organs, there is not a lot the medics or you can do, it needs that faulty gene replacing.

So a good diet is definitely of benefit, but it wont miraculously remove the faulty gene, just make your generally healthier one hopes. However, unless you particularly crave them, or if you have Type 2 diabetes, i wouldnt spend too much money on bitter melon :)

Well done checking for yourself Mushroom.

Like i found, some people say they help with type 2 diabetes but this is not the forum for diabetes!

Any vitamins, supplements or foods with supposedly "medical" properties, always do lots of checking yourself before considering them , and ALWAYS check with your doctor first.
