Hi everybody,
Can ALT 63 (normal range 0-33) be a sign of a fatty liver in overweight person if cholesterol is fine and no diabetes?
Thanks

Hello. The normal ranges for blood test results vary between hospitals and some are different for males and females - and one result is not enough to make a diagnosis. Your ALT is not raised very much, which is good. Doctors make a diagnosis on a range of test results - not just blood tests but also such things as ultrasounds and other forms of medical imaging. What I would say is eat a good diet (healthy and balanced), cut out any alcohol - or at least reduce alcohol consumption, get plenty of regular exercise (eg walking, swimming , cycling etc) and discuss the results with your GP. Good luck with these and let us know how you get on.
If you want a definitive diagnosis about fatty liver make an appointment for a fibro scan then you will know for sure.
Hi,
I had my fibroscan today and it showed quite bad fatty liver unfortunately (CAP 265), but I'm happy that no Fibrosis was detected (4.0 kPa)
I hope that fatty liver is the only thing wrong with my liver
Autoimmune hepatitis should still be ruled out
Hi the fat content of your liver is high but the fibrosis is low it seems you have caught it in time thanks to the Fibro Scan. Autoimmune hepatitis still should be ruled out with a definitive diagnosis, don't stop investigating until you know for sure that everything is good, best wishes .
Absolutely !
