is it ok to have plain whey -powder, when you have a fatty liver and gallstones. Iam trying to lose some weight and find it helps to keep me full for longer.
whey-powder: is it ok to have plain whey... - British Liver Trust
whey-powder
Don't know but is it quite a high carbohydrate product, in which case not helpful as a high carb diet can be bad for steatosis.
Here is some helpful info for you britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...
Plodding along, good days/bad days - always looking onwards and upwards to that blue sky
good for you, kind thoughts coming your way.
I use whey powder and have mild fatty liver but I do find is easier to consume if I mix it with a liquid first. Plain powder is a jitemare to swallow. Haha.
But seriously it's fine. It's a protein. Just don't overdo the protein because you only overload the kidneys I believe.
Lower carb/fat diet will be beneficial. Just had my gallbladder out as it was rammed with about 6 gallstones. I doubt it even functioned as I've felt no difference since having it out and can eat pretty much anything I want. And did from the day after surgery. Take-aways tend to cause a bit of upset tho.
Cheers
thank you for your comments, I have only been using it as a lunch in a milk smoothie with a small banana and berries added in it helps to keep me full till my next meal.
was your gallbladder causing any of the fatty liver problems, I, have gallstones but with all the cutbacks in the n, h, s, worry that there may leave them far to long without taking them out also have fatty liver.
I have mild fatty liver. Eating healthy is improving that and haven't had any alcohol since December 2014. My high ggt was quite possibly from the gallstones my liver specialist says. I'll find out this week when my blood test results come back. Every time I had a big meal the eve before, then a big breakfast then went and had a blood test I had results like that of an alcoholic hence my reason for wanting to sort this out. All of my other results were normal on last check tho. Only ggt higher. I've lived with it for 15+yrs. Gallstones can cause elevated lft results yes. Is it essential a gallbladder is removed? No. If you're asymptomatic they'll leave it. If you get a severe pain and have an attack then they'll probably remove it. The risks are high if a stone gets into the duct.
My op cost me £5.5k but as a pilot it was required to keep my medical and satisfy caa.
To be quite honest iam not sure what some of the tests mean, not feeling to good at the moment ,waiting myself for blood results next week, I don't drink, but iam trying to lose some weight, so eating healthy and exercising but fighting against shooting pain in legs and arms, anyway thanks for your reply,
