Hello and welcome to the site... There is a booklet you can download from the British Liver Trust website which gives excellent advice. Also your hospital/liver centre should have specialist advisors re diet... You could ask for an appointment with them, usually they are around on clinic days...

Best wishes

What is your diet like now? I am over 2 years post transplant and have just qualified to practice nutrition so might be able to help. Regards.

Hi Florence. Can I ask if you are still on Prednisolone post transplant? You are more likely to put on weight if you are still on the horrible things.

Also, some weight gain is natural post transplant as you will be building up muscle lost during the illness.

But, as someone who has always battled with his weight, I know it is not easy to maintain the slimmest of figures.

What works for me is eating plenty of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, juicing with my nutribullet every morning for breakfast, only having meat or fish once or twice per week, drinking plenty of water, taking 2/3 teaspoons of coconut oil per day and making sure I get enough exercise. I have also found that laying off the grains (barley, rye, oats, wheat) has worked a treat.

Regards. Martin
