Liver function blood test abnormal why???

Really worried doctor sent for another blood test x

It means the liver is irritated,but it doesnt have to mean its an emergency,it could be any number of things. Are you on any medication, even over the counter?

Yes I'm on co codamol but my last liver function blood test 6 months before was the same and I wasn't on any medication then?

It can happen for various reasons...sometimes meds have been taken bit later than usual or not taken before test. Happens regularly to me and never had anything wrong yet.

That's quite common. An instant snapshot or even several instant snapshots of what the (very complex working) system is doing aren't usually conclusive of anything, which is why the doctors look further into it, but just the mere fact that LFTs are not normal doesn't mean anything serious is wrong.

If you have any results you can post them here and I'm sure people will comment.

I have been through this I'm only 19, I have stopped drinking and everything and i take no tablets I am in pain everyday I just live with it and not my poo is white/clay colour and I have to way a month to see a specialist

Are you a heavy drinker? Liver damage can be caused by too much alcohol. Why are you having liver function tests in the first place?

Sorry Kazww....I meant I have PBC auto immune disease...I have had a liver transplant but still get abnormal readings every now and then but in a week they are back to my normal levels. Sorry if I confused you x
