Chronic liver disease is classified into Child-Pugh class A to C, calculated using figures for total bilirubin, Serum Albumin, PT INR and presence of Hepatic Encephalopathy and Acites which then gives your points score.

A score of 8 gives from this table a B classification indicating 81% chance of 1 year survival, 57 % chance of 2 year survival. So by far not the worst of readings and if this is related to recent score for your hubby hopefully it means he still has some ways to go so he has time to wait for that elusive transplant which can't be far away now.

Points Class One year survival Two year survival

5-6 A 100% 85%

7-9 B 81% 57%

10-15 C 45% 35%

Good luck and best wishes to you both.
