My GGT's were at 68 my AST and ALT are normal but been found to have HCV about 5 years ago waiting on a new treatment but is this something that I should worry to much over. This is a new test GGT and I have been doing lots of blood work over the last 5 years because of my condition.

Good Afternoon,

I wouldn’t worry too much, sometimes your liver function tests can go up and down if you have a liver condition. The normal range is 0 -45, which means yours are only elevated a little.

I would ask the doctor to repeat the blood tests in a couple of weeks just to monitor them and make sure they are not continuing to increase. Also drinking alcohol can increase your GGT level, because you have hepatitis C your condition can be made worse by drinking alcohol, so as a precaution if you do drink I would avoid drinking alcohol until our levels return to normal at least.

Kind regards

Thanks for the reply and because of my condition I very rarely drink, only every few months 1 or 2 drinks and that is it.
